I think it doesnt look too bad. Atleast im doing pretty much the same when i get my hands on a new rear bumper. Just making it the same color with my car.

I remember seeing a 6gc with JDM tails and painted the license plate holder a gloss black to match. I thought it looked pretty good on the white car, but then again, it kinda looked like the part was fished from a junk yard and not painted to match.
So guess no matter if you fill it in, or paint it a different color, it probably should match the tone and gloss of the taillights so it will blend a bit better.
My humble opinion.

Being a former Camry owner I think it looks pretty good. Of course I didn't own a 3rd gen with that rear, I had the painted trunk, but meh. I would love to make my Celica a little more Camry-ish...in the front. Now if only I had the money for a Curren front clip.
reminds me of the old eclipses..... just puts the image of the ones with the altezzas all the way across the back.
