WOW ! quite an experience .. i sea foamed the engine today .. car smoked intensely for 10 minutes .. afta that it was smooth as if i juss drove it off the showroom lot ... no more vibrations .. juss the sound of the muffler ..

Also changed tranny fluid to synth and engine oil .. new pcv valve and air filter ...

and i already feel the difference !

next on the list : new rotor cap wires n plugs !

any of u guys seafoam ur engines here ? experiences ?

i did mine at 60k. dont think my engine was dirty enough for it to make much of a difference. ive read lots of positive reviews on the product, good stuff

A lot of car forums I've heard about sea foaming. Good and bad reviews, can you explain more and the process?

All i did was buy seafoam at Auto Parts shop and then fed it via one of the vaccum tubes into the intake manifold .. this lets the sea foam travel to all four cylinders .. cleans out injectors .. burns carbon deposits etc ...

When u do it make sure its in an open place.. start ur engine .. disconnect one of the vacuum tubes and let it suck the seafoam in (it is a liquid). the car will start smoking heavily in a minute or 2. the directions told me to use 2/3 of the can which i did. I left the car idling for 10 minutes after the process revving it heavily at times in the middle.

I had a 2000 civic before which i did the same on and that forum had a detailed "how to" sticky on it for sea foaming.

I have done it so have many of my buddies and none of us ever had any problems. As long as your motor is not already leaking oil or in a bad shape, I dont see any problems.

If you have never done it and if your motor has high clicks on it, i bet u anythin tht u will see the difference .. Providing everything else is working properly, your idle will become smoother, I have had friends temme that they got increased mileage too, though i have never payed attention to that ..

from what ive heard is that the only "bad" experiences that people have is when the sea foam uncovers future problems that were going to happen anyways...

you put 1/3 in the crakcase, 1/3 in the gas tank, and 1/3 through a vac line like the PCV

it thins out the oil so you should do it right before you need an oil change, run it for maybe a day or two after doing the seafoam then change the oil. I didn't know that when I did it, I changed the oil before doing it and ran it with the seafom for like a week until my oil light came on

I'm at the 130K mark ( I bought it with 82K ) and I am thinking about running seafoam through next oil change. If all goes well I might try it on my girlfriends car too. Which vac line did you use for this?

the vac line to use , on the 5s is on the left side of the intake manifold , near the front there are 2 of them, cant remember which one exactl;y but just turn the car on and unhook one and attach your own section of hose onto the nozzle on the intake, if its sucking in then you have a good line.

just let the engine slowly suck up about 1/3 to a 1/2 of a can (i use a half ) then turn off the engine. thats one this most ppl dont do but it allows for the seafoam to settle and work its magic. then i usually turn it on and rev her up until the smoke settles.

one thing you might want to consider eventually is a spark plug cleaning or change. the seam foam breaks up and burns off so much crap that your sparks get polluted.

I've had very good experiences with it.

However, I personally don't put any in the crankcase.
Using good oil like Mobil 1 will clean it out just fine. More than you might think.
And this is less of a shock than the Seafoam...

One other option is to get a good quality fuel injection service done.
Not by going to a quick lube place and having them do the same thing you would [suck cleaner out of a bottle], but actually have a cleaner misted into your engine as it runs, another ran through the fuel line [pump is disabled], and a can put in the gas tank.

This will actually work better than Seafoam [not to knock it, it's great stuff].
The problem is the price.

I second the fuel injection cleaning. Ask the shop that your going to get it done at what cleaning method that they use. I used a Snap-on Motorvac at school and have noticed a huge difference (on my pickup, 97 Toyota T100). The other cleaner that I know of is BG and thiers doesn't work as good.

What is the actual cleaner you used in the motorvac?

I just seafoamed my 7AFE 5 minutes ago through my PVC line and i didnt notice a thing, my lifters still click louder than ever and the engine still sounds terrible.
Nothing broke or leaked though, and the smoke was hella cool

Yes, it's perfectly fine for one.

Either run it through your oil as well or use good quality oil.

i just added some to my oil last night. the idle rpm and oil pressure went up and valve ticking got quieter. i was actually surprised. just dont leave it in there for too long, because you can see that it really thins the oil out in the motor.

i sea foamed 4 engines today. 2 6th gen celica, my mr2 and a del sol. all did great on them. let the seafoam sit in the engine for about 5 to 10 minutes before running it all the way out. just to help brake the deposits up. well give update after driving tomorrow. worked pretty well from what i can tell

i guess i used the wrong vacuum hose? my engine choked and all and i had to get in the throttle to keep it from dying. but it showed me where my few tiny exhaust leaks are and smoked like hell. i thought i did something wrong. plus it was cold outside. i did it and 200k. it was pretty crazy.

It will stall out if you do not give it gas while having the vac. line disconnetced. You have too keep it up there around 2,500-3k for it not too stall.

im just curious, where did you find seafoam in the GTA?...ive been looking for it. I tryed de-carbonizing my engine using throttle body cleaner, it worked...kinda. I blew out black smoke for about a min, then nothing, and engine felt the same. I really wanna get some and do it on my car aswell as Sarah's coupe.
