COuple of questions for any and everyone:

1 - anyone know of good places to get racing seats? And, how hard is an install?

2 - Are there any good seat covers for the celica, or are they droopy looking?

3 - I have an amp in my trunk and the ground doesn't seem good. Anyone know a good spot?


ALL OF THIS FOR A 96 GT CONVERT

1. Buy a set of Bride replicas of eBay. You have to fit the racing seats on your stock seat frame and slider. Corbeau makes seat brackets for the Celica though, so if you bought some of their seats you could buy their hardware.

2. If you are looking at racing seats, why do you want seat covers? You can either get your seats reapholstered, buy crappy eBay brand covers, or if you can find it, buy Katzkin seat covers.

3. You need to sand down the metal where your ground wire is bolted to. It needs to be bare metal to bare metal.

they sent me some, the passenger side fit, but the driver side didn't (on my 99 the driver's seat has a pice of leather connecting the back-rest and the seat-cushion). so i sent that one back with a diagram of what they could do to fix it. and they did the modifications free of charge without any hesitation.

awesome customer service. and lots of fabric & color choices.

i do recommend seeing if your driver's seat has a big piece of leather between the back & seat cushions though, and letting them know when you place your order.

a) don't buy seats off ebay they are cheap and dangerous
b) buy certified seats, normally sparco or Corbeau.....DON"T BE CHEAP here
c) i used my suspension pillowball mount studs where it comes into the car for a ground

ok, any other thoughts? coverking is a bit expensive, almost can get some racing seats for those prices. anyone know any other good seat covers or cheaper racing seats?

any other places for a ground in the trunk?

take off the back plastic panel in the trunk and there are tons of things sticking out that you can use for grounds. take of of the nuts off one of the bolts holding your rear bumper on and grind the paint off around it the attach the ground wire and secure it with the nut

i really like the recaros from the jdm dc5r's... i think the style that came in them were never sold as retail seats tho. (i hvn't been able to find them at least)... so can try 2 find some used ones (or i guess new as well from honda?)

u can look for some used ones... and get some place like wedge engineering to make u some brackets.

page 46. BK is probably the easiest to get to. BH is another possibility - that is behind the rear speaker card. On left-hand-drive cars it is on the left, on right-hand-drive cars it is on the right (the stud on the opposite side is painted as it isn't used by the factory electronics).

Or as others have suggested, find any handy bolt stud and just sand or dremmel until you are back to bare metal then make your connection. Just make sure to use an electrical O ring and firmly clamp the wire to it using a crimping tool, then firmly bolt the O ring to the bolt stud with an appropriately sized nut.

have u thoight of going to a junkyard and finding some seats from another celica and just cleaning them up maybe getting them customized from somehwhere? im a sparco fan or momo is good

just buy one of those cheap ground testers, cost ya just a few bucks, and find where you have a ground in your trunk...thats what i did in my car...i also used it to test the steady and switched 12V

for seats, seriously dont go cheap on them. They are the main part of the car u use the most. All of the DOT seats are rated for a certain amount of G's. Alot of the cheaper seats *APC, Ractive, knock off Bride* will only hand about 3 or 4Gs of force applied to them. My friend had a set of APC ones in his cavalier and he jumped into his seat and ended up breaking 2 of the tabs on the adjusting wheel. Seriously, use your factory seats, or be willing to pay over $2K for a set of DOT approved seats. My seats were around $740 a peice, then the sliders were $65 a peice, base were $115 a pop and instlation kit was another $12 a piece. Thats all Sparco stuff too. Seriously dont cheap out on seats.
