Im looking for a home defense shotgun and i've narrowed my choices down to a mossberg 590 and the remington 870...which one is the better gun???

I wouldn't get a shotgun, unless its for the scare tactic- because shotguns make things messy, but if you must have a shotgun get the remington- because you should look good while pointing a gun at someone's chest.

i just wanted to get the opinion of some of the gun owners around here (i've seen the threads...and this is in the off topic section)...i've done a massive amount of research, i narrowed my choices down to those two.

alright the remington 870 is great. I personally hunt use one myself for hunting. But i will tell u what if some1 broke in my place and ne1 of my family was in neway shape or form in danger or risk of their lives that guy will get it. Send me to jail when im done but when it comes down to it ne1 on this sight would do the same thing if it came to family. No matter what country u are in.
i guess its all about your responcibility, but if people are shooting each other in your neighborhood and you feel you need to protect yourself, i would move. i do agree with the above however... i guess its good to have, it just sounds like you live in a really bad area.

For thos that dont kno what happened if u dont live in this country just pm i will tell u. If ppl in that school had the right to have a gun. That kid would never have taken out as many ppl as he did. After is first shot he would have been done. If ppl had the rite to carry their would be less violence because you never would kno what you would be getting ur self into if u would be to attempt something. Less robery less rape less lil old un armed helpess old ladies gettin beaten up and the lil damn perse stolen. No1 thinks about these things all they wanna do is see guns as a bad thing. Well lets see if it came down to leaving responsiblily to some1 or letting ppl keep gettin raped mugged beaten the hell outa for no reason, picked on just because u look diff its a chance that i would be willing to take just to eliminate ppl gettin hurt and tramatized for life because ppl are jerks and dont care what happens. No1 is just gonna go shoot a gun randomly specailly when they kno they will be arrest. Majority of the ppl will use for protection. Think about it with the law were u have no rites to carry... the jerk offs that wanna kill with the guns can still get them w.e they want on the black market! That person would be taken down newere he goes if he pulls that out and takes on shot by a citizen who is responsible and does not take that b.s. It deff make everything better and less crime.

I have a Remington 1187 that I love shooting (mostly bird hunting), but shotguns aren't the best for protection. Handguns are great for protection. If you can, try and get a concealed weapons permit. I don't know how California laws are or anything.
