Hi guys - I'm new here (thanks to google)
I would have joined a long time ago if I had known about this site!


Anyway, my front speakers finally crapped out on me and I was looking to replace them with rockford power series 6.5"

My concern is the depth listed is a 2.4" clearance for the celica but the specs of most 6.5" speakers call for a 2.5" depth. My question is: Is the difference okay?

My next question is- I found that I should get the speaker adapters that were recommended.

Will those adapters give me the added depth i may need or will I have to get creative?


P.S - I plan on buying the same speakers for the back too

your on the right track!!! i did the same with my celica and bought the adaptor rings eith new mb quarts speakers... worked out perfecit!!!

Yeah I just realized that the adapters add the extra depth I'd need!

Hi guys,

Does anyone know if the front speakers are easy to get out/replace? Mine are shot too! Does the whole interior door panel have to come off or just the plastic mesh over the speaker?

YOu need to take the whole door panel off as the mount the speakers fit into is much bigger than the grill - I'm not even sure it's possible to get the grill off separately but have never tried

How did I know you were gonna say that! I hate messing with door panels, they usually come off OK but never go back on properly!

Racer_J - my speakers came in but its been raining... if i find any secrets or things you should know about taking the panel off i'll share it with you

Taking the panel off is a breeze:

1. Remove the 2 plastic caps nearest the hinge - underneath there are 2 screws - remove these screws and keep them with the caps because they are very simillar to some other screws you will be removing but subtly different to hold the caps on.

2. Undo the plastic trim piece behind the door handle and pull the door handle to slide it out

3. Underneath the trim piece you just removed are 2 screws - remove the one that isn't holding the door handle to the door - I think it's the left one but my memory is fuzzy here

4. Remove the screw that is hidden in the bottom of the grab handle on the door.

5. The pins down the outside edge of the door - just push the middle in to remove them

6. Remove the screws along the bottom of the door

7. Remove the triangular trim piece that goes on the inside where the side repeaters are - just pull the top down and it should pop off

8. Lift up the door panel to remove but don't forget to disconnect the wiring before you go yanking on it.

Taking the speaker carrier off is just 4 screws and putting it back together is the reverse of removal
