Neon Strut Bar Q's - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #48194 9 posts Started by DSToyo
i know this has been covered before and i have done a few searches but none of the pics work anymore. basicly, what i want to know/want clarification on is,

-is it the 95-99 dodge neon strut bar
-does it fit by just making two more holes
-the stock strut bar will fit underneath
-it is the right length
-the hood will close
-is it worth it compared to the 200$ bars
-any other modification needed
-pics/links i may have missed please...

again thanks if you can clarify any of this, i just want to to make sure im getting the right thing and it will work and i will be satisfied. pics/feedback would be greatly appreciated.
-95-99 ring design strut bar.

-stock ones goes ontop.

-length is adjustable from the screws.

-hood will close if you install it right. i experience some minor rubbing.

save your money and get a real 3 point bar

X2 The cheap adjustable bars on e-bay are more for show than anything. There are too many flex points on those bars to make them really effective. It will make a small difference over no bar at all but like said above - save your money and buy a real strut tower brace.
Be aware tho the TRD STB makes changing the spark plugs on a gT a little more difficult cause it will have be taken off to get the spark plug wire boots off. I used to have one before I made my aircraft quality 2 peice 3 point one. If you lived close enough I could make you one that's better than any commercially available.
get a rear bar. IMO they make a huge difference, more so than a front bar... but then again I have a neon front bar so maybe its just weaker compared to my 3 point and GT4 bars in the rear

^thanks, i hadnt seen that link yet. how do you like your neon strut bar? does the hood close cleanly with yours. its gotta be worth the $20, even tho id much rather have a 3point, i just cant afford the $250 right now.
for $20 its fine. you do have to drill 2 more holes on each side and kind of tilt it back a little so it fits well under the hood, but yes it does fit.

maybe its not as stiff as a c-one or TRD but its just a bar, whatever you put there will be a little better than nothing.

spend the $60 or so on the GT-4 rear bar, it makes a big difference

edit: I'm not sure about the GT but in the ST it makes it a little harder to get to the brake fluid
