Topic #48507 15 posts Started by cyborg
I bought a lambda on ebay to hopefully help my extremely poor MPG. Lambda on ebay

The wires on this lambda are white, white, black, grey. Its bare wired. The one on the car is Blue, white, black, grey/white(i'll have to look at it again it was dirty) any ideas how to wire it up?

thanks
He he, that's the original link I sent to UncleBob - the link I sent in my reply to your PM with the colours mentioned will be better though cyborg - in fact post it up for all to see :thumbs:

**EDIT** Actually, ignore that - it's linked from the initial post wink.gif

Im not sure whats up with the celica club page, but im logged in and it still says i don't have permission to view the page. Any chance someone can post the info here? My problem is telling which wires are what on the car, so i can cut off the old lambda and join the new one on.

Lambda
Wire Colour-----Connection--------Car Wirecolour
Black========Signal========= ?
Grey========Earth========== ?
White========Heater========= ?
White========Heater ========= ?
OK, you connect the each white wire on the sensor to one of the black wires on the car there are 2 whites on the sensor and 2 blacks on the car - it doesn't matter which connects to which as these are for the heater.

Then you connect the black wire on the sensor to the blue/grey wire on the car - this is for the signal.

Finally connect the grey wire on the sensor to the white wire on the car - this is the earth.

This assumes that USDM colouring is the same as UK colouring though and that your universal sensor has the same colour wires as the one I used wink.gif

If your colouring differs for any reason it's not difficult to work out which is which with a multi-meter i as you have 2 heater wires which you should get a constant voltage across and should be the same colour. Of the other 2 wires one will be ground and one will be signal wink.gif

haha imagine that, i've been 'tracking' you kev all from a mention on the toyota owners club saying you hosted an image of the wires, even found your website from google and e-mailed what must have been your old address. And after all that your on here.... laugh.gif Thanks smile.gif
Does this actually work Without an Ems?
Another question, as i still havn't gotten around to changing it. Do i need the flange? Will the lambda I bought fit by tighting it in, or are the toyota orginal ones different? Yes my lambda came without a flange frown.gif

yeah you will need the flange m8 as the one on the original is built into it..

you can get the flange here

10 quid postage on something that small frown.gif Getting 40 miles to a tenner now though so i think its my last chance, although i've read somewhere to clean the current lambda in paint thinners, so i'll try that first.
a tenner delivered what a rip off, might be worth trying that place i linked to further up the page.

I wouldn't mind a tenner delivered, but its £15 all in! 5.00 for the flange with the VAT on top, and £9 for the delivery alone! I already have a lambda though, I don't want to have to buy another for £50 or so when i got this one for £16 on ebay.
sorry m8 didn't mean for you to buy the one in the link for £50 just meant you could try them for the flange ..

Sorry to keep posting on this, but another question. The lambda in the car is bigger than the replacement, was yours kevstir?

Oh and Im getting the flange from gendan, really good service from them people! E-mailed me straight away about if they sold it or not, and was dispatched in a hour!
