Hey all, just got back from Edinburgh and wanted to post a few pics. First, I saw some nice Scottish Celicas:

And here's some random pics of the castle:

This is down in one of the squares, they used to take people here and hang them:

The retreat at the castle:

Just thought I would share! The celica was back in the UK, took the train. If anyone ever gets a chance, I definitely recommend the trip! Good times.

Yeah, I forget what monument that is, but it's right in the middle of town, as soon as you get off the train. You can see it from everywhere in the city! And if you're into Anime, it looks like the spaceship in the end of Vampire Hunter D. Good movie. Bloody.

man, i cant wait to travel over seas again...i hate having to live in north america...canada has like no history behind any thing...like oldest thing near me is a fort that was used in the war of 1812....i loved france when i went, where 3/4 of the buildings in the town were at least 200 years old.

It's the Scott monument http://www.aboutbritain.com/ScottMonument.htm

Go there just before Christmas - they have a German Christmas Market just near there and ice skating in the park between you and the castle. All the sausages and Schanpps you could ever want biggrin.gif

I must go up again sometime as my sister lives near there but it's a long way (for a UK person) from where I live laugh.gif

True. I'm not sure where Devon is but it took us about 3-3.5 hours from Harrogate. Not too bad I guess.

Devon is the top bit of the sticky out bit in the south west. Just above Cornwall - takes 7.5 hours on the train and a lot longer to drive rolleyes.gif

Harrogate is in North Yorkshire so very near the top of this map with Scotland missing

Yeah I knew where in relation North Yorkshire was in England but damn, Devon's pretty far down there. I hear Cornwall is a cool place. I plan on driving almost everywhere I can while I'm here for a few years. Got any suggestions?

Yeah, you definitely want to do Devon and Cornwall - especially the piece of road up from Lands End to St Ives - one of the worlds top roads wink.gif Get the ferry to the isle of man (no speed limits outside of built up areas biggrin.gif ). Drive through cheddar gorge in somerset if you have a loud exhaust as well biggrin.gif

Get across to Southern Ireland - they have some interesting roads there complete with lanes to pull over into if your being overtaken trouble is they often end just round a corner laugh.gif

Other great drives are through the lake district and the peak district but do them in the Autumn/Spring or you will crawling along at 20mph behind a bus fulll of tourists wink.gif

Cambridge is worth a look as a City but go park and ride as the traffic is horrendous.

London is of course well worth a look but take the train - it's just not worth trying to drive in London as the traffic is bad and most drivers can't.

If you come down to Devon and Cornwall drop me a PM biggrin.gif

Sounds great! Unfortunately I'm working during JAE, already checked up on that! Thanks for the info BigAl. I definitely plan on doing quite a bit, although, I'm having issues getting through first time MOT! What a PITA! I am signed up on CCUK, same screen name, although I haven't sent off the payment to become a member. I'm still tryin' to get settled here and cash is hard to come by as of right yet...and, there's always that MOT I told you about! Shouldn't be too much longer though.
