right im new to this site this is my first post so bear with me. I have owned a celica gt i think it is an ss11 cause it is very low how do i tell ? also do you think i should remove my rear spoiler will it look better? my car was imported all the mods were done when i bought it , their are some engine mods they are - hks air intake jasama downpipe and fullstainless exahust, this may sound impossible bu ive had the speedo round to 165mph i know the speedo is about 8mile an hour out the previous owner told me but that means i was doing 155mph+ could this be right as i say i dont know too much about the car would appreciate some advice.. oli
Advice on my celica - 6G Celicas Forums
Hello, and welcome to the forums. We can't really give much advice on what you should do if we can't see any pictures... but if the one picture in your profile is of your Celi, then I want to know what body kit that is!

Welcome to the site! well looking at the picture on your profile, it's hard to tell if your car is lowered or not, but it looks stock in front (can't tell if rear is). could just be the bigger wheels and body kit making the car look lower than stock height.
if you have some more pics, post them up and we could give you more advice. hope that helps a little.

maybe he means 155KPH since the car is an import? which would mean your really busting about 90-100MPH.

No my speedo has been converted to MPH hence the reason i said it was a few mph out.

From what people know here, you doing 155 MPH is not right. They're trying to figure out why it's saying that.

Ye no i agree i dont think i can be doing that speed. from what i know of the car the guy who brought it over from japan and who i bought it off said it was part of some jap race group so i dont know if the mods i have listed are all that have been done on he engine.

A SS-II Celica runs out of gearing at abotu 145 MPH
Unless it has super strut then it will have a close ratio box and run out at 137 MPH
All tested on a rolling road

My SSIII + RSM on wide open road toped at 148mph... If i aint had RSM - i wount not even know what speed i was doing cuz i have Damn 180km/h speedo
So there is no way that your simple 3SGE could do 155 - maybe on 60% downhill + Huricane from the back

Hi
are you saying superstrut equipped ss-II's and ss-III's have longer gear ratios than the rest of the celica's.... that makes me wonder
I worked out that with my tyre size and gear rations on my ss-III it will top out at about 142mph on the rev limiter in 5th. I cant ever see the need to go there, I wonder if there is much acceleration to be gained from changinge the gearbox, I've already taken the gearbox off twice myself, could be quite a cheap performance mod,if the lsd could be transfered and if the driveshafts are interchangable of course.

Hello Bud - fixed your front splitters yet
The SuperStrut cars have a close ratio box so shorter gears - which means quicker in real life if slower top end
Sounds like the BEAMS cars may have slightly longer gears than an SS-II though - either that or the dyno I did my top speed on was wrong

No fixing of splitters yet
its the second time they have tried to fall off so when i can afford it some new ones are in order, duct tape till then
I shall have to hunt about for some gear ratio's for the various boxes now
