Need help on Plate Placement - 6G Celicas Forums

So as some of you know I drive with my license plate up in my window. Not only for front end astetic reasons, but also so my fogs don't get blocked by it. I received a warning ticket from a state trooper today and after I've driven by over 50 police officers in the past year one decides to get me for it. So my question now for you all is where should I relocate it?

Possibilities:
1. Put on in original spot, leave fogs
2. Put on in original spot, take off middle 2 fogs
3. Original spot, remove all fogs and put ssIII grill in
4. Cover up OEM fog light placement with plate just below blinker
5. Keep plate at home and say it was stolen and the new plates are on order smile.gif

Any suggestions are welcome, I won't be driving till this evening again so I hope to hear back from some of you with ideas. Also if I were to remove the fogs does anyone have OEM fogs? how about a grill?

The mspaint you did daftboy requires me to drill 2 more holes lower than the stock holes... kindasad.gif it doesn't look too bad but i am dreading the fact that i have to make a decision on my fogs. The plate on the corner from your pic is an interesting look. Thanks for the help there

Go option 3 and use double sided tape to hold license plate bracket (Use the strong 3m one). And shorter license plate bolts.

Can't you guys get slimline plates over there. Like this:

That way it won't cover up your fogs at all.

nope..we get big plates only...no thin ones like european style. I say put it over to the passanger side under the turn signal, or bend up your plate and wrap it around the bottom part of your bumper where you have your "celica" sticker and make it so that only your numbers are visable. I donno if thats legal where you are, but i have a few friends here in ontario that did that with their cars and it was ok.

I took all the lights off and only 2 brackets (middle ones) I have rust stains on the paint where Vermonts lovly salting got to the brackets... So Based on valo666 idea, I think I'm going to make 2 brackets that go into the fog light holes (middle) and mount the license plate there while keeping the "celica" still visible. My other current idea is to mount and bend down over the gap just a bit to cover the rust and still see the celica but i hate drilling more holes. thanks for all the advice! keep it up!

That's a bummer! Is it illegal to take to the plate with an angle grinder and remove the top and bottom bits (that say 'vermont' and whatever crappy slogan) so you are just left with the rego number? wink.gif

remove the OEM foglamp place holders, and put your extra lamps there...

This is what i conjoured up in an hour, bent metal brackets, drilled holes and made custom brackets...its temporary for the moment till i finally decide what to do but it looks pretty good for now. AND yes it did rain during my modifying..

Put the plate in the stock location. Bend the green mountain state part of the plate inside the lip. That should solve the two inner fog light problem.

One thing I haven't told you all about is that one lens of my 4 lights got struck by a rock or something along those lines and put a hole and cracks through it so this temporarily solves the broken lens problem as well till i finalize my plate placement. I'll def consider your idea jeff when the time comes to getting all 4 lights back on

Just out of interest, does it make much difference to the radiator's cooling when you have the plate in front of it like that? I expectit would, just probably not all that much noticeable...

In any case it looks pretty good like that. wink.gif

x2 for jeffs idea... id try n mount the plate a bit higher than stock location and bend the bottom part back, or just bend the bottom part back n locate in stock place

I think its illegal to modify the license plate the more i think about it, (bending the bottom when the plates in the stock position) I'll swing by my state police office tomorrow on my way to work and ask them the specific words in where and how i can mount my license plate so I can settle the Legal mounting issue with the lights.

personally i think celicas look aweful with the lisence plate in the front...

id just leave it alone - if you get an actual ticket do a temporary install, take a pic, show it to the judge, and remove it

in ny most sports cars dont use their front plates despite it being the law and the cops dont bother them. i dont know if a cop considers a celica sports-car enough but i havnt gotten nailed yet

That offcenter one is cool! You could get the Evo license bracket or something like that. Or, if worse comes to worse, get rid of 2 fogs! smile.gif I hate having a plate on my bumper, I had mine in my window for a while (mostly b/c the holes for the screws were stripped) but now I'm overseas and I get a long plate in front. I'm just going to tuck in down in the "mouth" looking thing in the bumper maybe behind a grill or something.

i thought that you could get euro plates for the front. i have seen it before. but the back has to be the normal style plates. i would ask them about that as well. then you'll just need to get some euro style plates from overseas.
