Is my rear wheel gap supposed to be this huge with the Tein/KYB combo? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #48966 8 posts Started by OOBE
I don't get it. The front is nice and tucked, but the rear is tall like a rally car. Really takes away from the aggresive stance that the crappy Dropzone coilovers provided. kindasad.gif I think my buddy installed them wrong or something. Are any stock suspension parts required when installing this combo (other than the attaching nuts and bolts)?

coil overs?

adjust them?
I HAD coilovers, and the wheels were tucked in nicely, but the ride quality was horrible, and the car felt like a trampoline and bounced all over the road. I replaced them with KYB GR-2 shocks and Tein S-Tech springs. Now the front is low but the rear is very tall. You can even notice it in my signature picture.

Give them a week or two to settle in. Also, what is your tire size?

Well the back is only supposed to be lowered about 1'' with the Tein's but it looks like your gap is a little bigger than what I've seen and compared to my car. I'm not really sure how the springs could be installed improperly as long as the strut and spring combo was installed exactly as they came off. Did he cut the bump stop as Tein suggests in the instructions?? Also, it doesn't look like the KYB struts in the back b/c they are supposed to be silver and yours look black like the stock ones. It could be because of the low profile tires though.
the problem looks like you have wussy 205/40's on those wheels and s-techs only lower like a inch or less in the rear....get some real tires

I hate those tires (I can feel the ants being crushed under them), but that's the ones that they sold me, LOL. Man, the car has been with that combo for over a year. It settled just a bit. laugh.gif

Yep, but get 225s, camber bolts or trim the fenders... these mofos rub slightly.
