The long awaited transformation - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #49080 83 posts Started by coldbluesteel
Hello everybody. like it says... this is the story of my Celica's transformation. This will be an on going thread so if it needs to be moved go ahead, thanks. I'll post pics when I get a chance. Great things are on the horizon.

The goal... to have the meanest street driven Celica in the world.

Details will be added soon.
Good luck, b/c I am sure you will need to spend well over $10K easily to have the meanest ever. Tufy and others will be hard to beat.

Thanks... Much respect to Tufy and others that have taken the Celica in it's stock form to the max.
10k...that's a good start.
So, do you have any pics? I checked your profile and it didn't seem to have any. Also, any hints to what your plans involve?

Yes,I have pics. I just noticed none of my old pics are on here any more too. I'll have to add them again.

Hints... give me a few minutes.
Pretty bold statement to be so thin on details.

lol, i know just how you feel about the wind raping the packing peanuts....
the same thing happened when my hood came in from greyhound, the box wouldnt fit in my truck so i had to take it out and man stuff went everywhere, newspapers, peanuts, towels? (ask celiracer, he packed it lol)

but yea good luck, this could indeed be 'the meanest' biggrin.gif

Yeah I really pissed off my neighbors it flew down like 10 or 12 houses....then it rained! The east coast hates me!
I would love to get one of these dropped off at my front door, I wouldn't care if peanuts covered the whole neighborhood!

So...what exactly are you doing with your engine? And is that pic of the inside stripped what it looks like now?

I want to do the turbo 1uzfe, but the shop doing the work is trying to sell me on a LS1. The car as of now is gutted like the pics, with just a few more things removed.

Any opinions on what motor I should base this off of?

Check out this beast...

Awesomeness!

but man i hope you scooped up all those peanuts, looks like you're gonna have to store that bumper for a WHILE laugh.gif

-LukeMy Flickr
Sure did, well most of them. kindasad.gif
Yeah I'm not even concerned with the exterior right now, just want to get all the mechanical issues worked out. Plus there is going to be a lot of cutting and welding needed so no point of trying to fit sheet metal yet.
woot.gif thanks for posting the pics man. You've got some great plans going on. I hope everything goes well for ya.

Yep gotta love severance pay!

The 1GR-FE is the 4.0L version. Bore is 94 mm and stroke is 95 mm [3.7"]

Output is 236 hp (183 kW) at 5200 rpm with 266 lb-ft (382 Nm) of torque at 4000 rpm on 87 octane, and 239 hp at 5200 rpm with 278 lb-ft at 3700 rpm on 91 octane.

This engine features Toyota's single VVT-i, variable valve timing, system and a compression ratio of 10.0:1.

Inside, the 1GR uses a taper-squish combustion chamber design with matching pistons to improve anti-knocking and engine performance, while also improving intake and fuel efficiency.

Toyota adopted a siamese-type intake port, which reduces the surface area of the port walls and prevents fuel from adhering to such walls.

This engine has special cast-iron cylinder liners cast into the block, which are a spiny type to improve adhesion between the liner and cylinder block.

With these special thin liners it is impossible to bore the block. In the event of cylinder wall damage (scoring, deep protrusions, etc), the entire cylinder block must be replaced.

For increased block rigidity, the 1GR also receives a high temperature plastic insulator/protector, which fills the empty space between the outer portion of the cylinders and block material common to open deck engines.

For increased cooling efficiency, the 1GR employs water passages between the bores of the engine.

[ the 5.7 hs Siamese'd cylinder sleeves ]

There are such 2 passages for each bank for a total of 4.

This reduces cylinder hot-spotting and keeps combustion chamber temperatures more uniform.

Factory Supercharged version will pump out 335HP.

This is a Perfect candidate for a Turbo in a 6G Sports Fans !

This engine is 0.32" shorter on stroke than the Tundra 5.7 of 4.02" AND weighs 384 lbs.
