Are they worth it I know i can get one cheap off ebay for like 60 dollars. Do you think they are worth it or should I spend the extra 100 and get one from OBX Racing or you think they are about the same?

is that one a direct fit for the celi or a corolla one that you'll mod ?

I've seen a few on Ebay that claim to be direct fit for the ST but I'm not sure if that's true or not.

If they're a direct fit that would be pretty sweet. But it's a shame they're not 4-1.

they DO NOT direct fit the celica, only the corolla. You need to have the second 02 sensor bung welded in and have the b pipe extended about 3 inches. I know, I have one on my ST right now, that I might be selling soon...

Yeah, I just went ahead and ordered em from a rolla to save 20 bucks on something that woulda probably required the same modification. My exhaust guy is gonna add the 3 inch pipe for free since I'm having him do the entire exhaust at the same time.


What's really the diff between 4-1 and 4-2-1?

Ok my bad guys. Apparently they each have different advantages.

4-2-1 : gives more torque on the low and mid end.

4-1 : gives more hp on the high end.

So overall I suppose 4-2-1 would be better for daily driven cars. I need to get one soon since I have a huge crack in my manifold that makes me eat exhaust fumes all the time...yummy.

Ok let me get something straight here guys. When you say that you have to add 3 inches to the B pipe, what are you talking about exactly? Are you saying that you just have to add a little more to get the the exhaust to reach the cat after the header?

they actually got here a day early and I'm pretty happy with em. They feel real nice and solid and are begging to be put on and ran with. Prolly the best bill I've spent on my car so far.

ya, for $100 i was very impressed with the quality of them. thick straight flanges, nice clean tig welds, mine are actually stainless to boot! i wrapped mine since they really heat the engine bay up after a spirited drive!

I'd heard a lot about ebay headers cracking after being heat wrapped. How long have you had yours like that? I want to keep the engine bay heat down but moreso I'd rather not have to replace the headers anytime soon.

if you don't wrap them, install them with latex gloves (clean)
and then once its all bolted on and you're ready to go, wipe all the runners down with denatured alcohol and a clean paper towl or cloth. this will have them color nicely and look good otherwise all the oils burn and turn funky colors.

thats more or less how i did mine, no finger prints and they took a nice color...then some little spots started to show up anyways and my hood was BAKING as well as everything underhood, especially at idle and in traffic.

maybe I will have them wrapped then. There's plenty of traffic on the way to and from work for me. Plus I do a lot of city driving.

wrapping also changed the exhaust note a little, especially underhood. also it feels like my O2 reads a little quicker, both the stock and the wideband.

Dude Bitter that looks beautiful.
For some reason I was under the impression that there were clearance issues when installing the 7AFE header. Now that I understand that it's just a little too short, that makes life a lot easier and I'll be getting a header next month. /joy
I see them all over the place, and I'm guessing the only place to get them for $100 is eBay. What brand is the header?

mine said "edge racing sport" on the little tag attached to a runner, im sure they all come from the same factory in china however. mine looks the same as the one from the how-to and the same as alot of others.

just make sure that when you get it you get the one with the correct front O2 sensor bung. i think for a 96 your front sensor in a screw in and not a 2 bolt flange? theres some of both kind on ebay. also you being a 96 you'll have to get a 2nd bung installed and use the spark plug anti fouler trick to get away with not having a the precat anymore, assuming you have one now (not sure about canada).

2nd link has a great step by step how-to. you may have to tinker with if you need one or 2 spacers and the distance of the sensor from the pipe, too close and you'll pop the code for no precat, too far and you'll get a code for a slow sensor response.

forgot to mention, i didnt like the manifold to head gasket that came with it, just didnt seem to fit right and i was worried about leaks later on. $7 for a new one from autozone iirc, i forgot to match the gasket to the ports, i may go and do that at a later time if i feel like it.
