Topic #49535 9 posts Started by NaderG
You Guys/Gals of 6gc have been a great help , my check engine light went on and am freaking out !!

here is what happened , i got cutt of , so i floored the gas pedal in order to yell at the driver rpm went up to about 5200 on an auto tranny 5sfe engine with 98440 miles on the clock , then i turned on my a/c , then my cruise control --> then i noticed the light

well , i know how to get the diagnosis going with the lil wire or paper clip , my question is where do i get the codes ????? also , what could it possibly be ???

note: i dont regularly rev my engine past 4000 , so i am not that much of an agressive driver

take it to an autozone and use the odb2 reader and pull the code
There is nothing wrong with revving engine pass 5000 rpm.
Your car has OBD-II.
So, bring it to an autozone and have them check the malfunction code for you.

can you be a lil bit more detailed on that ? what kind of code will i get off of it ? how will i translate that code ? how will i know whats wrong

you have a 96+, therefore you must have odb2...rent the code reader for free, deposit required, under your steering area is a cap, uncap it, use the reader, follow directions, get code and let us know what code u got....call me if you need more help
OK got the code/ problem : p0770 : A malfunction in shift solenoid "e"

probable causes in lexus brand : shift selenoid stuck open or a blocked oil passage

probable causes in any car : cloggy or leaky tcc selenoid or torque converter failure , open circiut condition-chek for intermittents.

So , what did i do ? how can i fix it ?
OR problemw ith the lock-up clutch
jajaja i dont think is nothing serious, so better not freak out
Well , here is what i done so far , i got the fluid exchanged with one of thoose machines that suck up every drop of the damn thing , a guy over there did it for me for 30 bucks , instead of 120 !! ( got lucky) , and reseted the codes , i am hoping it was just some metal in the old fluid that locked into the soleniod momenteraly , if the check engine light comes back on , i will have it checked by a tranny specialist ... so far , the car drives alot better than before , the tranny fluid was mad old !!
