6G Celicas is Now Upgraded - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #49545 28 posts Started by Coomer
Today I finally got the main site upgraded. It's not completely done, but it's done enough to be put online. smile.gif

Some new features include:
  • Better Profile URLs: (example: http://www.6gc.net/members/coomer)
  • Ability to Re-Order Profile Photos
  • Addition of a Contact Form
  • CAPTCHAs for User Registration
  • Addition of a Downloads Page
  • Ability to Add Parts
  • Ability to Add Part Photos
  • Ability to Remove Your Own High-Res Photos
  • Ability to add your MSN Messenger screen name and your Yahoo! Messenger ID (and it gets displayed in your profile)
  • Ability to Add Your Website URL if you have one
  • Ability to View Past Featured Ride Interviews
  • Better Error Messages on Forms
  • Member Filtering/Searching Should Work on Safari
  • Online/Offline Status Shown on Member Profiles
  • Wiki-Style Editing of How-To Articles
  • Ability to Add How-To Photos (Ability to Add How-To Articles Themselves will be online within a week)

Today is really hectic, and it's possible that I missed something, so if you see any problems, please let me know so I can fix them. smile.gif

Also, if you're having login/logout problems, clear your cookies. The new login system may not work with existing 6GC.net cookies from the old site architecture.

And let me know what you think. More features will be coming very shortly now that the new architecture is online. smile.gif

New Toyota project coming soon...

Nice job. I was wondering what was going on all day. You usually have a place holder page in place while upgrades are being done but not this time.

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.
Man I was thinking what the heck is going on, Danget now what Im i going to d with my free time! tongue.gif Its sad, I know.

Check out my thread
Kudos, I'm lovin it

Looks Great! Iv'e noticed that some members have thier sn in thier URL and some don't, is there going to be the ability to change them sometime? so mine would be like www.6gc.net/members/96bluevert. just curious, i know it would have taken a LONG time for you to do every single members, so just doing a few people's makes sense. it's no biggy, just somethin that i was thinkin' about. Kepp it up Coom!

I didn't actually have to make custom pages or anything for specific members..there's no way I could have the patience for that, haha.

If a member's name consists of only alphanumeric characters, underscores, and dashes, their profile will come up if you type http://www.6gc.net/members/USER_NAME. Though it can also come up if you type http://www.6gc.net/members/NUMERIC_USER_ID

The only exception to that is the tiny portion of members who have entirely numeric usernames, like 1900. If you go to http://www.6gc.net/members/1900, it takes you to raz128's profile, because his user ID is 1900. To get to 1900's profile, you need to go to http://www.6gc.net/members/874, because 1900's user ID is 874.

So yes, you can get to your profile by going to http://www.6gc.net/members/96bluevert, as can nearly everyone else. Sometimes it just shows up as a numeric URL depending on which link you follow. For example, clicking a username in the forums will take you to the profile using the numeric URL, while clicking from the members' rides section will take you to the profile using a username in the URL whenever possible. smile.gif

What's the URL to the photos? And are you putting them in [img][/img] tags? I didn't change anything on the forums, so I don't know why that would happen.

Make sure you clear out your cookies. Although I had no problems logging in, I had the same until I cleared my cookies then clicked to mark all forums as read. I used the link on the site rather than the browser preferences to clear my cookies. After that, normal service was resumed biggrin.gif

It's at the bottom of the main forum index. But it still doesn't work frown.gif

Grrr, it's annoying me now. I always use the 'view new posts' button and now it shows nothing every time. When i first load the forum at the top it says 'your last visit was....' and it says the current time, not the time when i was on last? frown.gif

Manphibian, try clearing cookies, and going to JUST http://www.6gc.net/forums and browse, but don't visit the main site (or member profiles, etc.) Then come back to the forums again at a later time, and see if stuff works since you haven't visited the main site. It could possibly be my custom login setup on the main site.

Coomer, thank you for taking us Mac users into your consideration and fixed the "Member's Rides" search feature. smile.gif

Thanks man, that does work, just had to change my bookmark address to the forum, not the main page.
