Had my camera today with me and took some shots. Aviation Maintenance . Today we started our T-34 with a Pratt and Whitney PT-6 turboprop. Click the link for all the photos, and yes we used the tug as a tie-down .

That looks like a lot of fun! What's the difference between feathered and unfeathered propellers?

^ looks like the direction (face) of the prop blades, one is very flat agains the oncomming air and the other looks to cut though the air with minimal resistance?

Feathered - slow and smooth?
usFeathered - fast but bumpy?

I had the labels backwards on the photos. You basically feather a propeller if you shut down the engine you reduce drag and prevent the propeller from windmilling causing more damage to the engine.
