steering to left when accelerating? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #49650 11 posts Started by 2bcelica
hi - hope you guys can help me out -

i recently replaced all four bearings - front strut mounts - driver side axle - and had a wheel alignment -
- my car is now pulling to the left when accelerating - if i hold the steering wheel firmly then its not really noticeable, but if i hold it freely then it is - I took it to a local shop and they thold me that the front control arm bushings is probably causing the problem -

Is that correct that the control arm bushing could cause this problem? Is this a part that I can replace or do I have to replace the entire control arm (assuming bushing comes with it), because when I searched parts catalog on https://www.1sttoyotaparts.com/partscat.html it does not have it.
Check the air pressure in your tires.

checked and normal - 44 psi on both side

on a side note -- is 3k rmp in 5th gear at 60mph normal -- it seems high to me - would timing fix this

my girlfriends civic is at 2500rmp at 60mph - her's an auto though

44 psi seems likes allot, i use 35
to my knoledge a wheel that is not balanced correctly can cause this , but it also causes vibration so i am not sure....
this can also be caused by worn out motor mounts similar to what lagos had.

I hate suspension issues because they are very hard to diagnose without actually driving the car.

tell me about it - i will go ahead and replace all the bushings since i'm getting thumping noises when going over bumps or pot holes - but i'm having a hard time finding control arm bushings at local part stores and online - i'll probably call toyota dealer 2morrow and ask for it -

motor mounts? hmm didn't think motor mounts would be a cause

That is normal. That is due to the short gearing of the tranny. Honda's are higher revving engines.
this is normal. and use 35 in your tires.

i don't think both wheels get power all the time and when under acceleration it will pull to the left.
check your rear motor mount. another member reported similar symptoms which went away after he changed his motor mount.
