if i was to hollow out my cat... would it have an effect on my computer and make the check engine light go on? and also does anyone know the exhaust piping size on stock GT's? thx in advance
You will get PO430 if you hollow out the cat.

I don't know the exhaust size.

what does that mean?
It means you cat is not working properly (because you gut it).

so therefore... my check engine does or doesn't come on?
PO430 = malfunction code = check engine light

is there a way to prevent that besides not hollowing out my cat?
i think the exhaust size is 2"

No

Why hollow it out?
Unless it's clogged it might add 1 hp to your power.
It also might drop it. When you add a random large space it can disrupt exhaust flow, causing it to slow down.
Get a spacer for your rear O2 sensor. Lewfx did this and hasn't had any issues. What it does is space the sensor out of the stream and keeps the light off. Also they sell MIL eliminators on Ebay but don't know how well they work.

the purpose of that would be because i was planning on buying a header and a high flower muffler and it would be pointless with cats that prevent high flowing air ... also.. it is a lot cheaper than buying an exhaust system
