Topic #49695 21 posts Started by jgreening
I am getting a flood control message when I log in and press the "view new posts" icon. If I wait a bit on the site and push it again, I only get the posts since sign on. Help?

It's a known problem and I'm working to fix it.

New Toyota project coming soon...
If you visit the forum through ww.6gc.net ->forum you get that message, if you link the "View new posts" in you favorites for FF or IE then it works ok.

http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?act=Se...amp;CODE=getnew

That one should be linked. A temp fix untill Coomer resolves the problem.

X2 it's really annoying. It works fine, then as soon as you view a profile or something then go back to the forum they all disappear frown.gif

I tweaked the login stuff a bit and this should be working now. But I'm not 100% on that, so you guys should try it and report back with your results. smile.gif

awesome, its works. thanks coomer.

ss-iii splitters and 404 skirts areon. which means i need to update my sig.
Thanks for working on it. Its still not working right as it now gives me all posts for the day. I use 6gc for a release from work related thinking so I pop on several times per day for a few minutes. The button used to give you only the new posts since the last visit. That was very helpful and I am looking forward to it being fixed again.

For whatever its worth, this feature is still not working correctly.

It seems to work for me Jay, but perhaps I'm not performing the required steps to reproduce the problem. Can you describe your exact steps...like if you logout or not, when you come back if you come straight to the forums or the main site, etc.?

Thanks. smile.gif

My problem is that the results are not limited to the "new" posts. Originally, this feature only showed threads that had been updated since your last visit. In that way, a person could come on to the forums, see if anyone had posted in a thread that he was interested in, and could look at that thread for any updates.

The way it works now is that I get 8 pages of threads when I hit that button no matter if I left just 10 minutes before. Obviously, not all those threads had been updated during that time. Essentially, what it does now is show you recently updated threads (without regard to the user's last visit), most recent first. While that is helpful, it is not as nice as it used to be when only those threads that were updated since your last visit were listed.

I hope that makes sense. Obviously, I appreciate your work on this - especially since I do not even own a 6gc anymore. Nevertheless, I do continue to enjoy using the forums for information and the spirit of community that has developed over the years. I will continue to contribute where I can help folks.

Main site -> Forum -> View New posts works everytime. But like jgreening side 'old' topics are also displayed as last but you can see that because the icoon is 'see through'.

The 'see through' icons do not work as described for me. For example, when I was last logged in, I went into Snap's thread on his V6 celica. I saw all of the posts that are currently there. When I came back now, the icon was 'bright" which I would have thought would indicate new posts but thats not the case.

must be something with names that start with j cuz it works the same way for me, and it was nice when it did work. for example... i could go over all the recent updates then log on 5 hours later from a shortcut button to see if anything descent was posted new or not
