Looks double din to me.
it doesn't look double-din size to me looks about an inch or smaller height wise. measure your old stereo and if that one is twice as big then it is a double din. I'm basing my view on how big the gap for the cd is compared to the rest of the unit.

EDIT: crapola....the more i look at it the more i think it's closer to a double din than i thought....i'm done talking now

ROFL......

jus got it.....working on it...
you will like it! i loved mine till i got my dvd player in! its probably the best stock radio ive seen!
Let us know how the install goes? Pictures of how/what you did would be nice. I saw this on a thread on another toyota forum, but forgot what car it was.
isn't the Scion unit wider than the 6th Gen unit?
it might be a couple mms wider. what kind of unit is it, is it amplified or needs amplifier. If its amplified it is just plug and play. as it shoudl hook to yout originals plugs. If it needs an amp, some of them require the digital amp, and not an analog. Thats what i heard. I installed a 2000 6 disc plyer from a camry. it was a 20 pin and i modified it to a 15 pin to use my stock amp. i looked into these, but i did not want to cut the bezel...

Anyone with one of these radios that can say if it's amplified or not? I'm thinking about getting one.

Also, doesn't it light up orange? Are there options to change the color on it? Does it fit fine in the 6GC double din space?

There is one on the 06's and above that can change color. It's a T1807. The T1806 and T1808 do it as well, if I remember correctly.

the Scion headunit has an option to change it to all different colors, it's just backlit colors thought.

IMO those radios are crap, they always give error codes or won't eject the discs or won't read them... but then again I do work in the service dept so we do mostly get people with problems...

What do you mean by backlit colors? Isn't that what we're looking for? For example, the factory Toyota radio backlite is green.

yea, its backlit just like the factory radio as opposed to most aftermarket stereos where the characters themselves are what light up, it just give a higher quality appearance that way.

Oh ok, that's what I was wanting anyways. smile.gif It can be made green, right?

Is there a way to obtain a manual or something for one of these radios? I want to get one soon.

It will work even if it requires an amp because the 10 and 6 pin will plug into the amp and from the amp to the stereo is the 15 or 20 pin only as long as the head unit you are using is 15 or 20 pin ( Im sure scion and toyotas uses the same wires and connections) .. i got the other one with the 10 and 6 pin and with out the middle circle knob thingy..did a couple of trimming but got it to fit. It won't fit in perfect because its a little wide and the plastic piece blocks the screw. I used my stock brackets. I just trimmed two little square so I will be able to screw it in place and i think if i remember correctly i also trimmed a little along the side of the stereo also I trimmed some more on the dash piece that is around the stereo because i think there are two clips that is around that area to hold the dash piece in place. can't really remember but here is a picture of it, not a good one because it's from my cell phone.

Very nice. Any pictures of it with the backlite on? And that radio has the ability to change colors, right?

-Matt
mine is not the one that can change color but it is amber orange (red orange) like the ones in the tacoma's, its not green though and it also goes along with my interior because my guages are red orange and also are my little buttons. I will post up a pic of it at night for you guys when i get the chance.
I don't believe there is a separate users manual for the radio, I think it's integrated into the Scion users manual for the car. You can order those manuals from the dealer though.

Here is a pic of it with the light on at night. not a good picture cause its from phone. I wonder if they have the HD radio thingy for these stereo because it also shows text and maybe it will show the song and station name when you turn to it. It would be cool.

It has Satellite Radio, not HD. You can do a direct connect but for the OEM radios, you'll need to get the direct connect from Toyota or Scion dealership and it'll cost you $600. Direct Connect Adapters basically just lets you tune the satellite channels through your radio. Where as if you get an aftermarket radio such as Pioneer, Sony, JVC, etc., their specific brand direct connect adapters only cost around $100-$110. On the other hand, if you don't want that route with that OEM Direct Connect Adapter, you can always go portable satellite tuners, which will only be around $70-$300 depending on which portable satellite tuner you get and they will work with your OEM radio as long as it has satellite ready or aux input. And they should all come with car kits. Atleast the newer ones do. Yes, it includes the satellite antenna. Don't forget the FM Direct Adapter/Modulator for signal boost. You'll need it.

I plan on buying a T1808 Scion radio along with the factory iPod cable. I'll let you guys know how it turns out, and I might even do a write-up. smile.gif
