Thud, clank, bang - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #49902 9 posts Started by purplegt4
I just replaced the motor in my car. I took many things off the car. Now there is a noise coming from my motor/transmission like something is loose and banging. It only happens when I'm in gear. It goes away when I step on the throttle in the low gears. Cruising, it's very loud with constant low throttle.

I'm hoping it's just the transmission mount.

Any experiences? Suggestions?

O yea. I'm going straight when this happens. As I replaced an axle too.

Sounds like a mount or possibly exhaust?
It's unlikely it's a mount if it happens when you're cruising.

Check your axles.
The inner joints.

Hard to say without being there though.
ok hmm...let's see.

it only makes noise when I am giving it gas. I let off and it stops.

man...i'm starting to confuse myself.
it was your wheel bearing?
yea. never knew a wheel bearing could make that noise, as the other side was a completely different sound.
weird, well i guess it was a good thing it was the bearing they are cheapo to fix

When I did them on a late 80s Camry (mcpershon (sp) strut design) they were a pain to get out, simply due to the age to rust ratio and the midwest's fine weather and roads.
