How do you make component tweeters quieter - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #49949 4 posts Started by san0
Today I have added a pair of MB Quart tweeters into the plastic housings by the mirrors. The wires are connected straight into the spare speaker wires in the door panel, without crossovers.

So you know, I have some 6.5inch Focal speakers in the doors. The rear speakers are the MB Quart mids (without the crossover attached). The sub is a 12" JBL with amp.

The problem now, is that the tweeters are too loud and i can hardly hear the front mids as it shares the same front signals. How can I control the volume of the tweeters without affecting the front 6.5" speakers in the doors?

if they came with crossovers, try running the signal through that, it should quiet it down a bit. and if not, use your treble control. i honestly don't know, since every band has its own amp in my setup (400 highs, 800 mids, 1200 bass)

Like stephen_lee said, try using a crossover. It doesn't have to be a MB Quart or Focal crossover necessarily. Or you could use a four-channel amp as your crossover as well.

alright man, a real quick fix to this is to turn down your trebble and adjust your fader to give the rear speaks more power. Then just use your equlizer (should be built into your headunit) and turn down the high freq. BUt if you want a permant fix, then hook up a crossover. You can get used ones on ebay for like 20 bucks
