cleaning throttle body - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #50178 5 posts Started by Redline08
Im interested in cleaning my throttle body, ive heard people talk about doing it but i dont know how.

Help is appreciated.

Thanks!
Spray some carb cleaner in it while its running. You will have to give it gas or it will die out.
I pulled the throttle body off the car, you just have to remove the intake hose, unplug 2 electrical connectors, unbolt 4 bolts, and pull three hoses off the bottom. (all this is a little hard because there isn't much space to work in, but you could have it off in about an hour.) then I just used a rag and some carb cleaner. plus I pushed the rag into the intake manifold to clean some of that too while I was at it. I wish I could clean the rest of the intake manifold though, is it really safe to just spray carb cleaner in there?

Not the proper way and won't be hardly any cleaning.

You'll have to pull it off and give er a good scrubbing

And thats a big no to spraying carb cleaner in the intake mani

Is it ok to take off the intake manifold cover?

(I think thats what its called) its got 4 or 5 hex bolts that seem to be holding it down with a couple of regular bolts hidden below it.
