Waste of gas? If you leave your car ideling for about 15 mins, you'll use less gas then the start up process.
As far as the rest of your claims, all those things would only even make a noticeable difference if the car was ideled for about 4-5 hours
Comparing to starting up process is a moot point.
We are talking about how long should we idling the car in order to prevent coking.
Noticeable or not, it is the fact.
Longer idling causes more pollution and waste more gas than shorter idling.
You don't need more than 2-3 mins to cool the turbo down.
Well I compare it to the start up process because it'd you're not ideling the car. . .you shut it off.
Prevent coking? If your car on cocaine?
Longer idling with cuz more more pullution then longer idling, yes thats true.....and frankly common sense.
I don't see what you're aruging about anymore. Sorry, you were mistaken, I wasn't trying to be rude.
As far turbo cooling goes, a lot depends on your last few minutes of driving before turning off the car. If you're gentle before parking, 30 seconds will be fine. If you were driving real hard, give her at least a mile of nice easy driving to let your heat exchangers work. Then idle her for about a minute.
