is there any way to make a rwd celica with a 3sgte engine and transmission swap in it???
rwd celica???? - 6G Celicas Forums
yes there is, its VERY VERY hard, pretty much unpractical for any street driven celica. some of the parts are pretty rare and hard to find.
you're better to just buy a RWD car

Agree.
But, it will be easier to start with a GT4.
While you're there, instead of a 3SGTE, slap a 1UZ and a pair of turbo there.

there is no real guarentee that the GT4 will be a better starting platform
because we don't know if the GT4 rear diff will support the RWD setup. the final drive ratio has to be the same between the tranny and the rear diff.
the most FEASABLE transmission for a RWD swap is W58 out of a supra
w58 =
# First Gear: 3.285:1
# Second Gear: 1.894:1
# Third Gear: 1.275:1
# Fourth Gear: 1.00:1
# Fifth Gear: 0.783:1
transfer case ratio has to = rear diff ratio...
and if the GT4 oem rear isn't the same, well then you have to get some custom gears or new rear end
(this i don't know how to figure out)

Never said that he should use a GT4 rear diff in RWD conversion.
I'm thinking more of the stock chassis rigidity.
I'm not sure about 6th gen, but ST185 chassis is more stiffer than its FWD siblings.

I don't really think chassis wise there is going to be a whole lot of difference and/or gain using a GT4 shell.
either way you have to hack up the firewall & floor pan.
so you will have to additionally brace that specific area.
i think the only small gain in using the GT4 body will be that the rear floor pan is higher up than the USDM one
