i am turboing my 5sfe, just wonderint that what tranny will fit for the engine? can you give years and modle numbers. Thank you.

naturally any 94-99 celica gt (5sfe) manual tranny..
its called an s54.

i have a 95 gt. and my stock transmission works fine so far. however, i saw somebody mentioned that the orignal tranny won't be able to handle the addional hp. So, i guess what i want to ask is that is there a better transmission for 5SGTE then the s54?

You could go with an LSD E-153 from an mr2, but it requires different axles. At least, I assume that since the E-153 and the S54 can bolt up to a 3sgte and that the S54 bolts up to a 5sfe that the E-153 would be able to bolt up to a 5sfe/5sfte/5sgte

how much power do you plan on having? so far my stock tranny has seen 2 5sfte setups and beat the snot of it and a stock 3sgte and semi built 3sgte.
shifts great no problems yet.

i am just going with the stock tranny. if it breaks down, then i will change to E-153. Anyway. Thanks a lot for your help. looking forward to complete the project..
