is it normal for new brake pads and rotors to smoke when you stop after you just got them put on?

no, did you put them on right?

Nope... are you sure you didnt put them in backward? with the metal backing of the pad against the rotor? i could see that kind of metal to metal contact causing it to smoke... but definitley not the brake to rotor contact.

It depends on how hard your braking, if you drive 80 then hit the breaks for every light and hit them hard any brake pads can smoke new or old. Are you breaking hard?? If not then no it is not normal.

well... first off.. i didnt put them on.. also.. i just found out that the rotors have a special coating to keep them from rusting and that may have cause the smoking.. also.. my e -brake was tightened too much which cause it to also heat up rapidly and smoke.. they are fine now and the person who put them on said they will smoke for about the first 15 miles.. just got the car inspected and got the e brake fixed ... new brembo rotors and mintex pads .. highly recommended .. stops on a dime .. thx for the answers btw

Good to hear you found the problem. But i think you are supposed to take that anti rust coating off before you install the rotor. Last week i helped my friend put in his Stop Tech big brake kit on his Wrx and the instructions called for a washing of the rotor before hand to take that anti-coating off. Leaving it on could hurt the performance of the rotor in the long run it said... but if you say it stops on a dime, you should be good then
