2nd gen vs 3rd gen flywheel...... i assume they are the same right? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #51046 5 posts Started by urbandork
Im pretty sure the answer is yes but i figured id ask anyway....

..... the 2nd gen 3sgte flywheel is the same as the 3rd gen 3sgte flywheel right??? weight and everything else???

I need a new flywheel and thus have given light weight ones a thought. First off how heavy are the stock ones? and how light is to light? I mostly do aggressive street driving as well as a little bit of canyon running.

Also what companies are out there for us and which kind of metal should i be looking for?

thanks

I weighed the stock flywheel on a home scale a few years back. It weighed 15lbs.

I installed a 10lbs. Fidanza flywheel, I dont know the difference between the two. I never had the stock flywheel.

I will return one day.

They are *almost* the same. The teeth for the starter are slightly different between the two, but everything else works. I have an aluminum 2nd gen Fidanza on my 3rd gen with the 3rd gen starter and it makes a slight noise when releasing the starter. Otherwise, everything is fine. smile.gif
