Ok so my computer connected just fine at work to the wireless router. I take it home and all of a sudden my computer wont connect and then my parents blame me for the router not letting anyone in the house connect to it.

I dont understand why it says im connected in the AIRPORT popup but it says i dont have an internet connection.

Please help me. you can call and assist - heres my number 425 301 3190

try restarting the router and then reload your configuration. if everyone else can connect and you cant then it might be the problem below.

is it a dell? i usually have to restart my wireless zero configuration (wzc). if you get a message to that effect, try going to start>run...> and type "services.msc" without the quotes. scroll down for wireless zero configuration and hit start on the left. then go back to the wireless network window where you hit refresh network list and go to change advanced settings. hit the second tab and check the box that says i want windows to configure connections or something and remove any network on the list there and hit apply or ok. you should detect the network and be able to connect to it. goodluck.
no my computer is a mac

well im wondering if teh linksys router is blocking mac from connecting to it?? is that possible?

damn. cant help you there. lol. sorry...

i think thats possible tho.
I have a Linksys router and it hates my G5. I have to unplug it every hour or so I am online because it loses the signal. That is the only thing I have found that works when the router goes nuts. You could try reinstalling the software you got with the router.
I've only used a mac on Cisco wireless hardware and it works fine. It is most likely a compatibility problem with the router and wireless card. I'm not too familiar with the mac interface, but if you're still having the problem on friday let me know. My Friday night teacher is a mac guy and I'll ask him.

it has nothing to do with it being mac or pc. you just need to check your network settings on your new computer and on your router.

check SSID settings
wep or open network
etc..

and make sure you dont have mac address filtering on in the router (mac = your network car, not the mac computer).

Firewalls are usually the case. That, or you have to change your settings from being at work. You should have the settings on auto detect/setup the network, unless you've got a static IP (which doesn't sound like the case). Then again, I know nothing of MACs, I'd rather have something I can tear apart and upgrade!

lagos... guess what? your wrong! muahahahaha lol i enjoy that too much. the linksys routers do infact hate mac/apple computers. but i have never heard of a macbook having issues.

is it intermitant? or do you just not have signal at all? if its a hit or miss kind of deal try using the interference robustness option on the airport pull down menu. IF you dont know what that is just call me. you know my # lol.

best of luck. and for the record. mac doesnt suck!

mac doesn't suck, its the user incapability to use it ^^
well just like anything theres things i like about mac but things i like better about dell. ive used dell for 5 years so mac will take some definite getting used to. i feel that dell is actually easier to pick up if its ur first time whereas mac is a bit harder to pick up

yeah Mac is similar to Linux/Unix, though it's very stable to run on, it's only annoying because you're used to Windows, as windows is more user friendly, well some windows not including Vista
Linksys routers suck! mine only works part of the time frown.gif

linksys routers do suck, unless you get the linksys cisco router, or a linksys cisco linux based router.... even though linksys and cisco are the same well cisco owns linksys.... one makes a better product than the other....
