Reality Hurts :( - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #5170 28 posts Started by macavely
Ok for those that know me, know that I really don’t have much to do at work, so I just sit and think about a lot of stuff. So as I was there looking at security cameras looking at my Celica in the parking lot, a 7th gen. passes by the screen then a 2002 Eclipse. Reality punched me right in the face. There is never going to be any real support for the 6GC. Aftermarket companies and Toyota knows they well never make any real money buy supporting a car no longer being produced. With the popularity of the 7GC there is was to much money to be had by supporting the new Celica’s. There are not going to be more new 6GC owners. It’s sad but it’s so true. Just something I felt like getting off my chest.

That's what makes our cars such a head turner >smile.gif> It's a great feeling when people ask me what that is because they have no idea. Yeah the lack of support is a downside but hey...there is the 3s-gte..and enough for the gt owners who just want to be able to beat out your civic here and there. And there sure is enough to make your car look nice as hell as well. The 7th gens have lots of support but for what, are they even capable of having a turbo yet? Sure they can be show cars but it's been done, enough to the point of exhaustion. And the new eclipses are like a middle aged girls car...its a shame they changed em.

i feel you, but i take pride in that i drive a 6gen and that when i go out i wont see more than 1 or 2 on the streets (on average). The civic is a nice, popular car and everyone and their mama has one. how often do you stop at a light and pull up next to 2 civics. and where i live, theyre both automatic rice rockets most likely. so yeah, youre probably right. but theres other ways to improve our cars. and dont think of it as an older model. its "vintage"

or better yet, "retro" >wink.gif>

i feel you man.... it sucks trying convince a company to start making some stuff for the 6gen, but 95st celica has a very good piont. our cars are defenately head turners. every one always have to look twice before turning away from our cars.
hell our cars look so good that a gas station attendant mistaken my coupe to be brand spankin new. he walked up to me and asked what kind of car is it. and when i told him it was a celica he thought that it was a 2004 model.

either he was really stupid or our cars just look that good!

Why did I get a 6gen...because I like the look of it.
Even after 7 years it still doesn't seem to show its age.
Here in France there aren't many around, so it's a real head turner.

It's a shame about aftermarket parts, but unfortunately the 6gc was superceeded by the 7gc and being that it's new, a good seller and there are a lot about, it's normal that large aftermarket companies make parts for them. (Business is Business!).

All I can say is...Thank goodness for this site.

BTW: Spare a thought for me, the majority of parts I get I need to import myself from the States.

Yeah, 6Gc's aren't that well supported here either.I'm always on the lookout on Ebay for that something different. All the emphasis goes on that market which has the greatest potential, and as previously said the 7gc seems to massive stateside, although not so much over here.

If you want proof of how hard we at 6gc find it to get our bits you need only look
at how many "gimme's" there were on the Forum when one of the 6gc members
had trashed his car and was breaking it up for parts! >biggrin.gif>

TRD doesnt support much of anything, they make a few things for every car, but dont go all out on any of them. they are too concerned with toyota atlantic and F1 to spend time developing street performance parts

Believer, you'll leave her, in leaving them allNo but I don't buy itLike anything you do, as anyone you areCause I'm...Ten Speed, of God's Blood & Burial

99 project version 3.0.. hello SEMA 2010 =)
I agree with neverstop. You can get stuff from trd it's just a little more complicated than straight up ordering it. Your best bet is to get to know someone in the parts department at a toyota dealership. Get in good with them and they can usually work around things and get you whatever you want. I got a buddy at the local dealership that hooks me up pretty good when I need stuff. It makes life a lot easier.
That is actualyl true......TRD Baby Car Seats for the 6th gen anyone? Yea..they sell em =P

So what does TRD offer for a 6gc ST other than springs and strut bars?

Does anybody have a TRD parts catalog?? I think we need to make a big list of the parts available for our 6th gens through TRD....we might find some cool stuff worth looking into getting as a GB or something.

i meant that number of 6gc owners will never go up example is in the world there are 100,000 celica owners .. if one owner sells his car to someone there is not going to be 100,001 owner it's still going to be 100,000 owners

Oh, point taken, man. That's why it makes us all the more special. We can rise up and show that quantity doesn't equal quality.
There are several different parts that TRD sells for the 6g celicas besides springs. Some of it is priced rediculously though and some you have to order from Japan. The body kits that they sell are nice but in my opinion not worth the money. $1500 for a front fascia. Whoah! They sell a limited slip differential for $500 something. I don't think they offer that in the U.S. anymore. You have to do wome work to get that. I have a full TRD catalog and a buddy that works at the dealership. I will be home at the end of August and I will put together a list of the part they offer, prices, and whether you can get them here or have to get them from Japan.

Sorry I can't get it on here sooner.
Don't forget the TRD Quick Shifter and high flow air filter. >wink.gif>

And Inferno, I think he means that there will never be another person who will own a new(like factory-new, 0-miles new) sixth generation Celica. >smile.gif>

Personally, I'm glad that our aftermarket is small and companies like APC don't make Altezza-style tail-lights for our cars. I'm sure that it does turn away a few people who aren't in the know and figure that they're going to have to keep their car stock once they look in their APC catalog and don't find anything for a '94-'99 Celica. >wink.gif>

New Toyota project coming soon...
Oups!!!I post a reply with my brother`s account(i`m at his house now) sorry >smile.gif>

Hey macavely i think the reality you talking about needs more check:)Even if the car is not in production it still rocks, its a legend so feel ok with it,and Elvis Died,so what?you can find clothes about him, records etc:) TODAY I GOT MY STUFF!!!Tomorrow morning i`m going to install on my GT-4: HKS Super Silent Exhaust,Ultra Wires,Apex Induction kit and Blitz Downpipe so waiting in the next few days for impressions!!!
I agree with Coomer. I think that one of the best things about our cars is that not a lot of people have them and that it is not like a civic in the fact that you can just walk down to the local performance shop and buy a $h!t load of bolt on parts. To mod our cars it takes work and commitment and that's what makes it so fun and in the end makes our cars so beautiful. Anyone can fork over money to buy parts off the shelf and pay some guy to put it on for them. That don't mean nuthin.
I agree with you and Coomer.
I think you guys got me worng on this... I must say again I love my Celi and I do enjoy having a Car not everyone and the mama has.. I just wish sometimes there were more support that why companies would be willing to make some parts that i and alot of you want.. but they aren't around...But agian I love my celi and wait till next summer i'm going to suprise everyone
