Does Anybody Use a Gorillapod? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #51797 11 posts Started by Supersprynt
I'm thinking about getting one of these Gorillapods for my camera. They have a SLR & SLR Zoom version, not cheap ($50) but I'm thinking would come in handy when I don't feel like lugging a tripod around.

Does anybody use them? Work well...?

I have one, works very well. You can use it on uneven surfaces.

That knock-off maybe worth trying considering its ALOT less. The only thing is I have a DSLR, and with a 100mm lens its pretty heavy and the SLR version of the Gorillapod can hold up to 6lbs and I'm not so sure this one can handle it.

The one I've got is small, and does not appear to be a real gorilla brand tripod. The build quality is a bit less than the official gorilla models--for example, the joints are stiffer on the gorilla. It's about 6" long and can support a small point and shoot camera only. Mine has trouble supporting my external flash unit.

For the price, it's not bad at all.

It looks as though this will only support a small P&S. I might have to dish out the fifty bucks.
