When i drive in a narrow street i can hear a churning metal sound coming from my rear left wheel ... what is that ? and how to fix it ? .... i am a big noob but can it be the wheel bearing ? or like the brakes are stuck somehow ?
Metal friction sounds - 6G Celicas Forums
does it vibrate at higher speeds? and if you jack up the car can u wiggle the wheel.
if those are yes to all my questions - wheel bearing
if those are yes to all my questions - wheel bearing
the 1/4 doesnt have patience for a ST.... so we make them ST-T's so atleast we'll sound good going slow.
vibration : i will not feel any vibration because it is the rear wheel , i will jack up the car tomorrow and try the wiggle wheel method ..... any other things it might be ? and how hard is it to change a wheel bearing ? what kind of tools needed etc.. thansk
could also be the heat shield for the rotors rubbing against the rotors while driving.
take a look at everyting back there...
make sure the lug nuts are on good and tight
check how much brake pads you have left (on both sides of the rotor)
and do the wiggle test.

mine did similar, check brake pads
This will sound stupid : how do i check the brake pads , i dont have the lil gauge that goes into the inspection hole ( or whatever its called) ..... what kind of signs should i look for on the pad ? i will try to look in y repair manual on how to get the pads out , if i get confused i will ask you guys , thanks for the help.
jack up the rear of the car, remove wheel. remove teh lower bolt on the back of the caliper, twist the caliper up. remove brake pads.
or just take the wheel off and look at the brake pads w/ the caliper on. there should be no less than 1/8" of pad left. or else it is time to change.

you can always come and see me, i can help you out with most suspension related problems.
I had the same problem. Brakes were not releasing properly because of corosion of the brake cylinder. If the wheel is not spinning easily, this may be your problem. I had to replace the old cylinder with a new one and now the sound is gone.

well , i will jack up the car in a moment and take a look at the pads , if the master cylinder is bad , then shouldn't the noise be coming from more than one wheel ?

just finished my inspection , the wheel does not jiggle , the pads are still huge .... that only leaves the master cylinder malfunction ..... i will not bother with it until i am sure that i will either do or not do a swap ... because if i do a swap , it will come with the clip
the wheel doesnt have to jiggle for a bad bearing. my front bearing was toasted...wheel didnt wiggle but made a noise. a bad bearing can also cause the rotors to overheat and warp.
>
what do you mean by Warp ? ... i doubt its my Master cylinder , simply because the car has 100K right now ... this is a Toyota , bigs things shouldnt be going out now .... i kind of think its the bearing ..... so how do i check it ?

take tire off, use lug nuts to tighten rotor...with a jack stand, place pencil on rotor and spin it and see if it stays on rotor or if it skips.
i will do that next weekend
it could be your e brake shoes. When they wear, they make a sort of squealing noise. does you e brake handle go all the way up ? does it stop/hold the car well ?
my st205 swapandour Beams swap
hmm , well , the E-brake does hold the car in place , even on really steep incline , but it squeals all the time ... like when i get in the car , the lil motion i cause makes it sequel .... ... but i dont understand how this will make a sound during driving with the e-brake down
just shot my brakes with brakleeen thingy and the noise went away
I don't normally drive fast, but when I do its on a curvy section of this island
