Celica ST Headers Group Buy???? - 6G Celicas Forums

Is there a company that is willing to make some headers for the Celica ST if we do a group buy? Does anybody know of such a company? If there is a company wiling to give us a good price for headers for the Celica ST then how many people would put their money on them. Im not even sure how many people on this website have ST's but I would think it be more than 30 people. I dont even know who to contact to ask them if they would make us some headers. I just though I would throw this idea out to see what you guys think and to see what happens.

I know I can use the Corolla headers but those look like they suck, and I just want something that is actually made to fit on my car.

I would look for some companies that make headers, and then find their contact page, and ask their sales deparment about it. I'd mention the lack of aftermarket headers for our cars and the size and dedication of the sixth generation Celica community, and ask if they could make some custom headers, and how many people would be needed in order to get them made. Also, be sure to ask about their terms of the group buy, what style the headers would be(4-1 or 4-2-1), what finish they'd be, and things like that. I think that you may have a hard time finding thirty people to purchase headers for their STs, unless you can get a pretty low price.

I'd be down, but I'm doing an engine swap, so I'm getting a Toysport, TRD, or Apexi header when I do purchase a header. The factory AE101 header is quite impressive however, and is a 4-2-1 design with a fairly large diameter for a stock header. >wink.gif>

Arospeed did headers for the ST - direct bolt on ones as well.
I tested interest on getting a Group Buy going sometime ago (search Group Buy section) only to find out that they did not make them anymore and weren't looking to do a new production of them. >frown.gif>

Coomer, what do you mean by headers being 4-1 or 4-2-1? Im pretty sure it has to do with the way the tubes are set up, but im not sure. Are there other combinations?
I'm not sure if there are other header combinations for a four cylinder non-turbo car, but I know that 4-2-1 means the pipes go into two pipes, and then those merge together to form one pipe. 4-2-1 headers are generally better for low-mid range torque and power, while 4-1 headers generally give you better top end power, at least from what I've read about 4A-GE engines. >wink.gif>

search ebay for 7afe or corolla and you'll find some.

and i know i'm on my soap box, but it's "header" for a 4 cylinder car.

headers are on a v8 or v6, and there are 2! of them, one for each bank of the engine, thus the "s" -> headerS.

When I wrote headers, I meant headers meaning two or more for two or more different cars. I didn't mean headers as in, two headers on the same car. >wink.gif>

Thanks for schooling me guys. I just dont want to sound completely ignorant when I call them. I'll be calling some places and see if I can find somebody that is willing to do this for us (even though VPHMC has already tried this approach). If I do find someone I'll let you guys know right away and I'll definately try other forums to see if anybody at other forums is down to go into a group buy. If there is anything else that I should know please let me know. I think the more knowledged I sound the more chance we have of getting a company to make these for us. If you guys know of a company that is willing to do this then give them a call or leave the info on this post so I could call them.

By the way, I have read on other websites that headers improve horse power all throughout the power band, but maybe im wrong. I'll see if I can find a sure answer.

Does anybody know if there is a 4-1 header made for a corolla?

I searched everywhere, and I mean everywhere, to try and find a Header for an ST with no joy whatsoever.

So, I decided to take a risk.
I've recently bought (waiting for them to arrive) a brand new OBX 4-2-1 Stainless Steel Header and OBX High-Flow Cat. Converter for a Corolla 1.8L (7a-fe).

I know that the Header will be too short and normally will need an exhaust shop to add a piece to meet the cat. (see "How-to" atricle). However, I'm hoping that the High-Flow Cat. is longer than my standard cat. and thus eliminate the need for that extra piece.

I'll keep you posted.

I tried OBX without success, infact I gave up on them.
I tried all over the place, Arospeed, HP Racing, KR Merchandise, StreetStyler, ... the list is endless and I came to the same conclusion each time - there really isn't anything for the ST.
So I searched eBay for "corolla obx" and hey presto! >biggrin.gif>

BOTH the Header AND the Cat. are for a 1.8L Corolla (7a-fe).
I heard, or saw somewhere, that someone tried to put one of these obx corolla high-flow cats on a Celica (ST or GT can't remember) with a standard header and found that it was too long, so I decided to take the risk.

It could turn out to be a straight bolt on solution for us ST owners.
On the other hand, at worst, it's a little bit of work by an exhaust shop.

Only time will tell...
