Ok, so when on lo for long periods of time my A/c light starts blinking on the console and the air stops pumping out cool. Then If i turn it on hi it kicks in again. Do i need new frion? (sp) But it works when on Hi. Any help would be great.

ps. could it also be because i was running at extremely slow speeds? ie. rain and the roads flooded. Because it has never happened before.
i have never heard of that before

was your engine temperature normal or was it getting hot?

i know that at certain times the ac compressor is turned off when the coolant is cold enough. it then turns back on when it warms up again

it seams like you might have a short in the switch or wiring somewhere

The road I was on flooded one night and i didnt see it and hit it about 60 or so and the car dived in the front and the AC light started to do that and did it for about a min and then it stopped but, thats the only time I have ever ahd it to happen!

I have a 98 GT and my AC light is blinking too, I doesn't blow out any cold air. Any ideas? Pre-owned won't cover this so I'm waiting till next summer. POS AC. Toyota Celica's need to learn how to make AC work. I hear of this problem a lot, and had the same thing on my 5GC but without this annoying blinking light.

i am awesome
>biggrin.gif> heres the easy way out. turn off, turn back on, on HIGH, and then turn back to lo!

i am awesome
makes it work. lol
i have no technical explanation. But i think the compressor doesnt have enuff power so when u run it full blast it gains some back.
mine did that too when i first got it

had a warranty from the dealer then they fixed it worked for like 2 days then it broke and they fixed it again and its worked perfect ever since

you need to go get it recharged or w/e its called.

turning something off then back on again doesnt make it work better...

i tried that too

i was just saying what happened to me
I dont think its the fact of turning it off and back on, its when u run it full blast and kinda get the generator "warmed up" that it wont blink. Just my 2 cents tho >biggrin.gif>
is the A/C light in your dash or in the heat controls? If its in the heat controls it sounds like an electrical short, possible need a new switch. In the dash, no so sure probably need frion or check to make sure the compressor is working properly, there is not a whole lot to the A/C system to go wrong.
they are referring to the light on the A/C button...it blinks and then it stops blowing cold air.

i took the frion approach like you but it was no good.
