Gas Hood / Bonnet Dampers - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #52539 4 posts Started by gt4boy
Hi all,

I know it's been asked in various forms before but has anyone actually managed to fit some gas struts to their bonnet?

Could really do with losing the naff OEM support if possible. I'm sure it's do-able but just wondering if anyone had any success stories / pictures / parts used etc etc.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Best regards

Call me a traitor! See if I care. ;)
You can probably just pick up some kind of universal ones. Probably have to drill some holes for mounting as well as flatten a section out so the hood can close properly.

I am not a fan of them though. Unless you are worried about flexing in a CF hood they serve no purpose. If the stock support arm is going to be in your way while doing a bunch of work, then you might as well take the hood off.

Thanks for the replies guys - much appreciated.

The main reason for wanting to do it is that I've got one of those c-one cooling panels fitted and the oem support isn't a particularly good fit with the panel fitted. frown.gif
