i think the stock susp. holds its own on the road i have 17's and nexan tires(cheap) and i take the curves around here in western pa. pretty good. now my question is , how much faster can i really go through a turn. i take sum bends at 80 with only a little tire squeal will coilovers give me that much more. any of u guys that have them let me know.thanks.

this is a relative question....it depends on the road/the driver/the tires/the weather/the type of pavement/ect...
but yes a set of good coil overs will make a difference...but i don't condone 80mph in corners because it leads to 80mph going off the corner into a tree...

Well I don't think anyone on here would suggest taking turns at that kind of speed, but what aftermarket suspension will do is firm up the ride, give you less body roll, and ultimately making the car more stable during cornering.
Now a combination of coilovers and sway bars would really hit the spot.
now if you're convinced that your stock suspension is suitable to 80+MPH cornering then by all means stick with it... but try taking 7 or 8 consecutive sharp corners and hold your speed. Thats where coilovers help out.

yea with the stock suspension 80 around corners isnt a problem if its not too sharp...i have noticed a difference in a negative way when i installed one of those neon strut bars...my ass end kicks out around 70 now where before i could hold my foot to the floor at 75 and take the turn...but if you do decide to go with some suspension mods post and lets us know what you used and how effective they turned out.

you do realize a FRONT strut bar should tighten up your FRONT end...making it more prone to UNDERsteer..
it doens't tighten up the rear causing oversteer......

Good tires is going to make a good difference, but it won't help road debris from making you slide off the road. Strut brace? I wouldn't even think it makes a difference.....no wait,, actually, we shouldn't help you go faster in street curves at 80 mph.

you can go 200+ with new sway bars.
ok ok ok ok sike. yea sway bars make a huge difference if you're interested.

ARB or sway bars as you guys call them would be my first upgrade. When it does let go, which end goes first, front or rear?

Front sway is probably not needed. Just a rear sway bar.

sprinkle a little holy water on your stock springs, and see if you can do 90
well i wont b flying around turns this week. my friend and i were going to some dragraces at the zelienople airport(people from pittsburgh will know wat im talkin about). on the way down I-79 my car wouldnt go any faster than 85 so we pulled off the next exit (all of guages were fine) pulled off 2 the side. when i popped my hood we could see it was overheating and coming out the overflow so i figured i would let it cool down. it was like 5 min before we got back in the car to see wat the temp. was. when i turned on the key to the aux. position my temp guage went from ( C ) to ( H ) really fast as soon as it hit the hot my radiator blew a crack about 7 inches long rite under the cap blowing antifreeze all over the exit ramp and highway. so now i gotts 2 get a new one so my celica isnt a lawn dart like my turbo talon. lol
