Yeah, I def. think a canned food drive would be a good one next summer. Its kind of sudden, but if we could get one sometime in the beginning of december, we can have a toys for tots drive too

Another celica website we can advertise is TeamCelica.com Most celica owners on that site are the new celica's, the girly ones..but a lot of 'em still look wicked good.

I own one of those "girly celica" Sadly only my 97 Celica was ever called "cute", my GTS has been called "mean looking"

I am just wondering if there are any celica meets that are charity events? I am down for the meet nonetheless but was jw!

I've always wanted to have everyone come to the walk-a-thon for Cystic Fibrosis ( a lung disease my sister has) but there really isn't enough parking for that where it's held.

I'm down for a charity type thing.

Buy my Celica $2,500 -http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=76562&st=0
sigh a charity for breast cancer would be nice? =/

hmmm, mount trashmore. i've been there. =x

YoungSurvival.Org-Celica traded for.. 350z.. traded for Mazda5.. soccer mom!

An event that includes multiple states usually has a 2 Day setup

EX:
Saturday Afternoon - Main Meet in [Location] Meet and Greet
Saturday Night - [Another Activity] FOOD
Sunday Morning - Breakfast Meet
Sunday Afternoon - Everyone Departs.
If it's going to be in Virginia I would like to do the deals gap run.

JDM guy made me do it.
deals gap is a decent hike from VA.
its teh NC/Tenn border...there is talk of shutting it down too kindasad.gif

but from Skyline its probably 5-6 hrs
DC - 7 hrs
VA beach - 6hrs

thats a thing for a dedicated trip
Ouch thats a far drive. Staying as close to the coast as possible is probably the best.
Why not try and see if their are any tracks nearby that would allow us to do some drag racing?
Would anyone be up for that?
we have a few tracks
Capital Raceway and
Maryland International Raceway (MIR/Buddscreek)
for quarter miles,
1/8 we have old dominion raceway

and if you want to watch road course Summit point
The only way I'm up for any type of racing that far way from home, is if I trailer the Celica down there. But I'd rather drive it down for the meet. I think a huge meet and greet would be best, If we have enough people. Just getting to know each other would take up the whole day. Talking 50 plus cars here.

I will return one day.
Track meets are hard to do due to the fact that a very very few will run their vehicles.. a meet like this should be easy on the cars due to the long drives that people will do.
I'd definitly be up for some drag racing, or just racing period. I know there is a raceway not to far away, but its pretty good ways away from VA Beach, its South Boston Speedway. They race stocked cars there. Its a decent track, but doubt we could get it. I'm sure we could find some place near VA Beach

MySpace<- Where I reside
you know VIR is right by Danville as well wink.gif
If my car is fully functional I might be able to attend... I don't trust my car with long distance drives.
Personally I wouldn't race mine. I just bought it and its still stock, and even worse, an auto trans. I just figured some would like to show off their engine mods. Yeah, that is a long way to drive for some of us, and racing it would be asking for trouble, but just thought I'd throw that out there. However if there is a road course I would definately run it there, just to test the limits.
Completely forgot about VIR....hmm...that would be do-able. lol My dad has sold some cars to the guys that work there and help run it. So I'll ask him about it and see if he can get me some numbers to call so I can talk to some people.

MySpace<- Where I reside
Hey guys - just a brief update!

My dad gave me a number of someone to contact if we would like to try and get VIR for a day.

I contacted the person to see if it'd cost anything (since we'll probably make it a charity event and donate any bit of money we get to a charity foundation) , and also what we would all have access to. He told me about the price, we'd have to wait to see if it would cost anything since we would donate to a charity fund. And about the racing they said we could have access to the ENTIRE track...which you know what that means, RACE TIME BABY!

Woot for Dad huh? lol

I'll keep you updated on the VIR situation. If anyone else cares to try and work on some of the other stuff we could do that would be awesome.

What do you guys also think about a $20 per car charge? I think its a small tole for all the fun.

MySpace<- Where I reside
Open car racing? Hmm tempting.. the spyder is always ready for some fun...

But 20 per car? that seems very very very very cheap somewhat unrealistic..
Personally Id say things should be figured out a bit more before any kind of track/price is even discussed. Alot of people seem to be fine with a meet and greet also. Keep in mind this is something being planed for the 08 summer/fall with the intent of getting ALOT of members grouped for one huge EC meet. Alot of members are going to be driving hundreds and even possibly thousands of miles just to make the meet. Im not sure how many of them would want to put their car under that much more stress of a track enviroment.

Member of Team 5sfTe
Well a lot of people mentioned that they wanted to race and drag - so I got some strings pulled.

I figure the $20 per car can be used for the food for the HUGE cookout, and charity.

I figured that a hotel around there could give us a good discount since we would have so many people.

But VIR is just an option, I called to just see what we would be able to do. So it could be open for us if we want it, just depends if people want it.

MySpace<- Where I reside
LOL if you think you are getting onto VIR for $20 you are crazy

track days are well over $150.
you DO NOT just get to go on and run around
there is CLASS time, instructors that go in the car with you, strict rules and regulations to run and Safety crew. Your car has to pass a tech inspection, which includes going to a mechanic and having them certify your car before you ever get to the track, changing of brake fluid and many other things.
here is just one of the common forms for inspection
http://www.carguys.com/policies/2003tech.pdf

also considering its booked straight for every weekend this year laugh.gif

If you wanted to set a track day up for NEXT year and join in on one already scheduled you could do that. But you are paying +150 easy

now dragstrip is $25 and you can just drive up and run, which is MUCH different and more relaxed than VIR.

Well, thats what I heard when I spoke to a spokes person with VIR , but if there is a drag strip around VA beach, i'd be more then happy to do that instead. It'd be a lot easier to get that.

MySpace<- Where I reside
No strip in Virginia Beach. A simple meet and greet would be fine for most.. the "racing" will only make it more complicated.

Organizing a meet is complicated enough.. so lets get serious?

----------
Options:
+ Park Meet - Many locations, Cookout, Park, Great Atmosphere, Easy Parking
+ Skyline Drive - Great scenic location, great for cruising [SPEED LIMIT] Picnic locations, Closer to main group of 6GC [AKA NE Group and DC/MD Vets]
+ Shop Meet - Available dyno on site, minimum parking, swarmed by other cars, Possible raffle for car stuff....

IMO a simple meet and greet in a Park is the best. To raise money, we can have a charity jar, Meet shirts and procedes go to the charity, and/or raffles.
A large meet like this would most likly be a 2 day event so maybe a camp ground close to a nice cruising road? Simple meet and greet for the first day is nice, also like the charity jar and Tee shirt idea.

Saturday Afternoon - Main Meet in [Location] Meet and Greet
Saturday Dusk - Cruise toward a restaurant or food of choice..
Saturday Night - Food! then another activity
Sunday Morning - Breakfast Meet
Sunday Afternoon - Get together with the rest of the people that stayed before everyone departs.

Something like this would happen....

I'll try to locate some camp sites nearby, pretty sure theres a few tho.
