i'm thinkin about puttin a turbo on my 5sfe...but it has 158k miles...
compression is rather high on all 4 cylinders...b/t 190-205 on them all
doesn't burn oil (spark plugs are clean as a whistle...) just a bad rear crank seal causing a leak
should i go for it? any things i really need to consider?
might want to change the headgasket and timing belt beofe you do anything. otherwise go for it.
I turbo'd mine with 150k and i have had no problems so far
What about 207k?
CLOSED on 25 acres!-shop coming soon....
change the question from "is it too old?" to " can i afford to do it right?"
15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned
just changed the timing belt about 5k miles ago...
planning on pulling the head in december to decarbonize the cylinders...nice metal head gasket then...
money is always the kicker isn't it? that's why i'm tryin to research and get stuff now, thanks everyone

I just turboed mine with the same number of miles, 158K, and the only thing that went wrong that wasn't my own fault was the rear crank seal going out. so if you just replaced that then you should be good

oh, well, I'll just let you know now it's a bit*h.
if you're getting an aftermarket clutch (and you should be if you're doing a turbo) then do the seal at the same time.
