Well.. i bought my celica two julys ago and pretty much ever since i bought it, things have been going wrong with it. Up to date now, I've spent about $3500 to keep my car alive and drivable. Wednesday night, i was driving home around 9 PM, my car started to bogg down and idled low and didn't have much acceleration at all. My check engine light also came on and was flashing. By then, i pulled over and called my dad. My car is in the shop now and I'm sorry to say that i will be getting rid of the car if repairs are more than $300. Ive spent too much money on this car to fix it up and it never treats me right. Don't get me wrong, i love the car but i just can't afford to be putting all of this money into it while going to college. I'm just hoping that repairs aren't too expensive this time and I'll consider keeping it. Thanks for letting me rant, This has been on my mind all week and i needed to come out.
May be an end to my celi - 6G Celicas Forums

Same here... I'm waiting for my engine it cut it so I can have a excuse to do mines to. I still got warranty though for 4 more years and 50,000 miles to go.
Good luck with your next car if you choose to. I was thinking of the new Nissan Altima.

yea i've been spending so much money on it to fix it that i don't have enough to mod it.. i was thinking of a 5sfte or a swap but everything keeps going wrong.. after spending $900 on brakes i just don't think it would be worth swapping or turboing
if you do decide to get rid of the car, theres a guy in Toronto whos looking for a 6th gen, i dunno if he wants one that need some work or not, but you should contact him..his SN is Jenness

Well no wonder you're out of money to fix it, and it keeps breaking down! Whoever charged you $900 for brakes is not only on crack, but is robbing you BLIND!
Whatever this mechanic says is the problem with your car, get a second opinion if you can. I just can't possibly imagine HOW on EARTH a brake job could possibly cost $900! I hope you're not at that same mechanic again.

can list some of the problems that were 'fixed' in the past?
Pandelica 2.0 in progress.
doing some of the work yourself could save you a bunch of money! brakes aren't that hard, it's like four bolts then you just pull the old pads out, put the new ones in, slide the rotor off and get it resurfaced/replace it and voila! takes like 20 minutes per wheel and it cost me less than $350 to replace all the rotors with cross drilled and slotted ones and to get high performance pads too.

900 on brakes?
thats more than a rip -off...unless you mean that was for upgrading ur brakes then it sounds fair.

Hmm lets see... New clutch, 2 new front wheel bearing, 2 sets of tires, alignment that tore up my tires, new muffler, cd player, air filter, new rotors, pads, brake drums, calipers, and e - brake cord, speakers .. i think there is more but i can't think of it right now...
$900 for 4 brembo blanks, 2 sets of mintex pads (front and rear), new rear calipers, new brake drums and a new e-brake cord. I was shocked too but it didn't seem as bad when i broke it down.

ahh, it's cause of the new calipers, you probably didn't need to replace them or the rear e-brake drums and cable unless they weren't working right.

im sorry... a celica is like 8k tops for a REALLY nice one... and evo or 350 is like 20k for a bottom end one... if i were you id keep the celica and and try n do some research on it. not to mention your insurance is gonna jump way up switching to either one of those cars and the gas mileage is also gonna go down.

rofl 20k for a 350z? maybe an 06 or 07... im perfectly fine with an 03-04... i can easily find a decent 350 for around 10-12k.. evo is pushing it a little i will agree there.. but i just threw that out cuz i really want one
if i sold it.. probably around 4.5k... im not sure about that yet though, i haven't really analyzed what it's worth right now.

around here there are 350s at smaller dealerships selling for around 12k with about 60,000 miles on them. I don't know about where you live. I would also like an SRT-4 too but there are kinda low in supply around me... don't really see many here.
I just kelly blue booked a 350Z. I entered in a new york area code, and picked the cheapest one I could. I put private party value, 2003, 70,000 miles, fair condition, with very few options, and it came up $13,700. good condition was $15,100. and this is just for the regular base model. So, if you see one for $12,000 then it's gotta be salvage or something.
