idk if this is the right category to be posting in or not, sorry. but im planning on buying a 6th gen st later in the week and its a stick (yippie!) and right off the bat i want to put in a short shifter. Ive heard that a 7th gen short shifter will work but is it hard to install? easy to mess up? and this is what i have my eyes on:
00+ Celica Short Shifter

think it will work?

only hard part for me was getting the plastic piece off the old shifter without breaking it.. but other than that, smooth and easy install.. .LOVE there results!

also get a counter balance shift knob.. makes it easier to shift

It's a weighted knob.
Most are stainless steel.
Check out TWM site.
I have the 1-lb classic knob.
It makes a huge difference.

they do make a huge difference. the throw is amazing when combined with a short shifter! but if you live in any place with alot of sunshine, an all metal shifter can get awfully warm!!

short shifter install is a breeze. The hardest part for me was getting the shims lined up with the pre-existing bolt holes on the floor.
