You can go to Toyota and get a new set of Key tumbler or something like that.. I remember my brother bringing home a set of keys and the keyhole for the doors, trunk and ignition.
Man, that sucks. I carry a survival knife around in a backpack when walking around big towns. Nothing like pulling out a 10" blade and saying" Wats up foo"
Atleast you are allright...

well... sorry to say this... but if you go to toyota dealership and ask them to make you a key is a 6th gen key, they can make one for ignition and one for doors, not one for both... you can try junkyard it if it has a key, as far as the alarm... gotta get a new one
Do you have a spare? They can just copy a spare key. I bought a blank of ebay and they did it for free.

I think he wants to change everything so they can't get in his car... ignition and door locks...
But if they didn't get his wallet, and he wasn't mugged by someone he knows, then the people don't know where he lives or which Toyota he drives, much less if it's a Celica.

If you provide proof of ownership (registration and insurance w/VIN number) and a driver's license, a Toyota dealership can make a new master key that will work on the doors and the ignition.

As for replacing the door locks and ignition, maybe consult w/a dealership FIRST to make sure you get the necessary codes off the new parts so they can make a master? Assuming the parts all come off the same car.

I lived in NYC 10 years and that never happened to me. I know you're in northern NJ, but still, it sucks when things like that happen, especially when it just plays into everyone else's idea of what it's like there. It's not really like that! (Unless you're in Newark or Trenton, then I take it back and you're lucky you even still HAVE a car!)

Glad you're okay though. wink.gif

unfortunatly they only have ignition, I have been at dealership and they told me that they can give me key but dont guarentee it will work on doors... and the glove box..
i think there is a key set on ebay right now. other than that you might need to find a 6gc in a junk yard and see if it has a full lock set and the key that goes with them.

Right to bear arms. He was attacked, 'feared for his life and safety'. In his situation, bound by law, he has every right to protect himself. One of those attackers might have a deadly weapon. Shoot first, ask questions later. It has nothing to do with his car.

Accidents happen in those situations.

if i am going down i am going to put up a fight. here in florida if you are able to carry a gun leagally then you can shoot forst and ask questions later. according to florida law you can shoot when your life is threatened when you are in your domain ie house or car. i am a cop and have seen this happen three times to people. the worst one was when three teenagers tried robbing a guy and he shot at them and hit one kid in the hand and we never found the kids middle finger. lucky shot.

You will have to take ur door pannel apart, take the whool door lock barrel out and look for the code imprinted on it...the code is a 5 digits&letters, take that code to your toyota dealer and they will make you a new set that should work on both, door and ignition!!

98% completion---aaRon
thnx for the reply guys....yah 1 guy told the other guy to "shoot him shoot him" but the fcker obviously had no weapon since he looked like he didnt know what to do. i been tryna find a key set around here from a 6gc with no luck. currently i put in a new alarm and 1 of those bulletproof pedal clubs. will have to do until i put in a killswitch sometime this week. i still wunna change all the locks/ignition tho. anyone know if locks/ignition from a 5th gen celica works?

thnx for caring guys....this place is the best biggrin.gif

I think these guys are amatures the way they handled the mugging ( they forgot to take your wallet and cash?). If they did not take your wallet then chances are they wont know where you live.

I would not worry too much about the car key thing because think of all those people who buy used cars. Who knows how many duplicate key they made before selling the car to you.

Just change your car alarm and you will be fine. If they really wanted to steal your car, a simple key wont help much. Smashing a window and ripping apart the ignition can be dont just as quick as someone owning the keys.

Yeah, but having a key makes it more discrete.(but obviously these muggers are idiots so.....)

Man, glad to hear you didn't get killed or seriously injured.

Since these guys were amatures, did they even wear masks?

CLOSED on 25 acres!-shop coming soon....
Do professional muggers wear masks? tongue.gif
point taken....ill still put in a killswitch just in case...oh and the reason they didnt take my wallet was because i prevented them to >:) come to think of it, i had a long metal pipe in my trunk which i completely forgot about...damn

and yah theyre idiots...people mugging other people are complete idiots who wont get anywhere in life. they'll get theirs...karma is a b*tch

edit: and yah they were wearing masks...lol
