HKS Hi-power silent exhaust - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #53319 11 posts Started by DanTheMan
Hello, i have the item mentioned in the title and its really quiet untill warm, too quiet.

People have mentioned that there should be a screw that i need to undo if i want to pull out the silencer, but i have shone a tourch down the exhaust and cannot see it.

Other people have suggested using a crowbar to rip out the baffle!

Which one is the truth?
The screw should be visable from outside the muffler tip. It should be on the underside of the tip.

A crowbar will only destroy your muffler, so if thats what you want to do then go for it.

Personally, shouldn't you have had a feeling it was going to be quiet? HKS doesn't call it "silent" for no reason. tongue.gif

yea man..if there isnt a bolt there, then there isnt a silencer that you can remove..its built into the muffler.

i know that some have it inside n its built in while others have a removable baffle..looks like you have the latter.

btw, how much that muffler set you back? im lookin for a nice flowin muffler to replace my loud one

Pandelica 2.0 in progress.
is 98dB silent???

No more replicas... This is evolution... This isSS-four:)________[Featured Celica of 6gc.net @ 2010]_________
lol i get the general picture, there isnt a bolt so it looks like i gotta live with it untill i can get a new one

i didnt buy the exhaust it came with it

thanks for your advice people
IIRC the HKS Silent hi power has a Resonator/muffler box between the mid section and Exhaust muffler. If you remove that and reweld a straight pipe to it it should sound a bit louder.

JDM Powerplant installed, BPU coming very soon!

noooo bad idea. if youre not running your with a 3sgte DO NOT remove your resonator. i heard from many people that have done this, say that it sounded like mad bumble bees. so unless you want that riced out sound then i wouldnt suggest doing it.
After reading that, this is probably DantheMan's first Turbo car. And Turbo's are quieter then N/A engine's

I have no box/muffler/etc etc between my (for now) stock DP and rear muffler, and its quieter then my previous ST202 exhaust with midmuffler installed.

Well so you know, the Turbo itself will reduce the noise of the exhaust setup for a good amount, even more if the stock cat is still in place. Getting another muffler wont do the job.

well depending on the piping will decide how loud your car will be. take a look at defgephs exhaust. it's 3" straight with a HKS carbon fiber titanium canister. 4.5" inch tip. thing is a monster. heres a clip of when i use to have the same canister with 2.5" piping with a resonator.
