so I was talking to my friend who is helping me with the swap in the upcoming months and he said the MR2 3sgte engine won't fit in well since MR2's are rarewheel and unless I want to convert to RWD, then I have to get a celica 3sgte.
Hmmm...experiece tells me he is wrong.
It will fit. The fact that it is RWD has nothing to do with it. Rear mounted transverse engines are the same as front mounted transverse engines for purposes of fitment. The only difference is the location of the selector shafts in the tranny and the location of the wiring harness. As kadett mentioned, you will need either an alltrac or custom alternator bracket as well.
Edit: I see you are in Calgary. My old car with a MR2T engine is now in Calgary and is owned by board member 6gsillyca. I am sure if you contacted him, he wouldn't mind if you went over and took a look.
