Ok so I bought my Celi almost 2 years ago. It drove fine for about 3 - 4 months, then the brakes started squeaking. After a few weeks of this I couldn't stand it anymore, so I had them rotated. Well now the other side is squeaking, so I can't rotate again. So my question is, what is suggested for a good set of brakes? It's my only car, daily driver, and I don't really hit the track.

I think it has to do with the type of brake pads you get. It all depends sometimes the ones with the most performance puts out ALOT of brake dust and some times squeel. Just stay away from the cheap generic stuff you can get at Auto Zone.

Do I just need pads at this point? Or do I need to replace the whole rotor? Sorry, I'm not too mechanically inclined

Check your rotors and see if its cracked or if there are any surface wear. See if the surface is uneven and what not. If so get new rotors, if not just get pads. That way you wont put down 300+ for rotors and pads.

Alright thanks. I think I'm just gonna order the pads first, my uncle is a mechanic, and said he'd take a look at the rotors when he goes to put the pads on. If they need to be replaced, then we can get some then.

Good idea, because rotors arent that cheap. Well the front at least.

they could also be squealing because they need to be replaced. get them checked out soon.

agreed, if they wear all the way down you will destroy your rotors fast.

there is a "warning" system on most pads that lets you know when you need to change your brake pads.. so if you pads never squeaked before, and they are now squeaking.. it could mean you need new pads.. The brakes have a metal tab that touches the rotor when the pads wear down enough and it produces a chirping sound, therefore letting you know you need new pads.

Take a look at your pads/brakes and if you see this tab against the rotor, then you need new pads.



(A note about cheap autozone pads, which are sadly what i have right now.. anywho they are metallic so they squeak when breaking, where a ceramic pad usually does not make noise.)
