It just came on randomly while i was driving. didn't come back on after i turned off and started the car again.

that's the indicator that your rear bulb isn't working... maybe one of the filaments is broken which is randomly causing it to go on and off.
if you see it again, check your bulbs.

hmmm... may be a loose connection in the bulbs, all checked out while that bulb was on... tails, brakes, blinkers, hazards and trunk mount. Thanks, i'll keep that in mind if that happens again.

it doesn't necessary means that is the rear, it means a bulb is out.

my old 87 GT had that too, the last time the light showed up it was the right side side marker.

you have an SSIII from europe or something.

it can be your rear fog lights are on.

The usa celica does not have rear fog lights and do not have that warning light.

my old 89 GT-S had that light, and that didn't have rear fog lights..
i remember this topic being posted before... and the answer is that a bulb is out, i don't remember whether it was necessarily the rear or just any bulb in general..

Umm... I live in Japan, the car is pure JDM, with the exception of a few added american toys. no rear fogs. never even heard of rear fogs.
