Question about suspension - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #53521 5 posts Started by GotToyota
I'm wanting to get some new suspension this Christmas, and I'm not sure what I want. I was thinking something about 1.5" in the front and 1" in the back.

I was looking at the Tein S. Tech for springs, and KYB GR-2's for shocks.

But what I was wondering about is the spring rate. What will this affect, what does this mean? And how do I know if the springs rate will match that of the shocks?

Spring Rate is the amount of weight needed to compress a spring a certain . Springs are rated in LB/in (in metric system kg/mm), or specifically, how many pounds of weight are required to depress the spring by one inch.

You have nothing to worry about. Going with the Tein S techs and some kyb gr2's you'll be fine. Your celica is your daily driver right? Well you have nothing to worry about spring rate. You've made a good choice on the springs. Less body roll and it will give your celica a nice aggressive stance.

Awesome, thanks for the info.

Yep, it's my daily, but I'd love to have some nice handling when applicable.

You'll definately feel the difference from stock. When you get some more money go for the suspension technique sway bars. I am actually saving up for them so I can get ready for auto x coming up spring.

^^ agreed, the suspension technique sway bars will help a lot when it comes to eliminating body roll, making for better handling.
