I would like to create a profile for my wife's curren, (since it is essentially a celi). Could Curren be added to the dropdown on the type list, or is this a bad idea?

Technically it isn't a Celica... it's a Curren, and I don't think that will fall under 6th Generation Celica.

coupes don't exist over here though, only hatches and verts, the curren is the jdm coupe.

You can create a profile and mention that it's a Curren not a Celica, but there's no option when you create one for currens cause technically this sites only for 6th gen celicas. And I agree, the celica coup is more a wannabe curren than te other way arounud lol.

What if there was an "other" option? Eh, just a thought. (still a 6gc specific site though)
