hey, iam interested in painting my break calipers, just wondering if anybody has a close up shot of the painted caliper without the rims on!!, i just have the fear that i will end up painting sometthing iam not supposed to hee hee, nervous wreck when it comes to doing anything with my car meself..ye see i have nobody to blame if i do it myself and it goes wrong hee hee...any help? cheers paaaaaaaaaalz!

if you can, try taking off teh calipers when you paint them, so u dont have to worry about gettin paint on anything else, or option B, if ure lazy, newspaper up the whole wheel well and everything else except the caliper. but IMO taking off the caliper would be much easier, cuz then u can just paint it straight up than worrying about other paints stains

Nah, it's a lot easier just to mask off everything. I tried taking the calipers off, it was a pain in the ass!!! But yeah, just mask off anything you don't want paint to be on and you'll be fine. It's really easy

thats the caliper unbolted, but with the brake line still attatched, with the weight of the caliper sitting on the rotor

where did u get the paint? and did it come in a spray can? or did u brush it on? oh, and what is the drying time like? thanks.

Yeah dude, I know it's easy...but you gotta do all 4 of em, paint them, let it dry and then put them back. Much more time consuming. It was just so much easier for me to mask it and paint it. But on another note, I would have to say taking it off and painting it is the better and cleaner way to do it. So if you want a really good job, definitely take it off and paint it.

Yeah dude, I know it's easy...but you gotta do all 4 of em, paint them, let it dry and then put them back. Much more time consuming. It was just so much easier for me to mask it and paint it. I did a really dodgy job of painting my calipers with a brush whilst they were still attached at the start of the year. The paint I used wasn't high temp stuff (Dad said it would be ok but I've since learned not to trust him when it comes to aesthetic stuff) and it's starting to come off so I want to do it again by totally removing all of the calipers and spraying them with some high temp gloss. The celica text would really finish it off nicely

my guess is after painting them he put the sticker on then sealed it on with some clear coat or something. doesn't seem too hard IMO.

^Got pix? That's not too shabby of a kit, I'm leery of those types of kits, usually they're a rip off but it looks like it might not suck. I'd love to see pix of the finished product on your car!

That looks great, I think. Very clean... I like the subtlety, it actually in an odd way makes the clear lights (are those side markers off ebay, btw?) stand out nicely... not that they stand out, but it emphasizes how nicely they blend with the silver color of your car. You used that same kit?
I was thinking of doing mine red, but after seeing the silver, I like the understated subtlety much better. It's rather elegant... [insert Rico Suave smiley here!]

nothing fancy just good old hammerite smooth give every thing a good my last car paint wise was good for 2.5 years then i sold the stickers are just the vynyl type and had no probs so far even when calipers are hot on a long run yellow /silver

Well, if you don't have a GT4 and can't afford hammerite and stickers custom made from some guy named Mook, this might be a good option to go with...
This is my favorite mod on my celica.
First, I cleaned up the calipers and sprayed some silver engine paint on them. While they were drying, I went on my computer and using microsoft word, I printed out some block letters on a blank CD lable sticker thing. I cut them out and placed them on the calipers. I then brushed on come black caliper paint. Waited 'till the paint was semi-dry and used a razor blade to peel off the letters. I then used an ear swab tip to do some touchups. What do you think? Not bad, eh?
