oh yeah, i've seen the interior of the interior laugh.gif Seriously, you'd be surprised the things we found when we traded carpets. I had enough money to go and buy booze when it was done and over with biggrin.gif And even better, We've discovered that vert and hatch have different sized carpets kindasad.gif

Thanks guys you rock. Lisa deserves half the credit too - she spent nearly 4 hours cleaning every tiny little thing while it was out and I just did all the disassembly/reassembly and of course the combination of parts mentally.
Thanks to all you, my friends, for finding rare parts, trading carpets etc etc etc. [Zero, Ripley, D-Man, Stetsonaw, Griffy etc].
Now I just gotta get dirty under that hood again and pull some more horses out biggrin.gif

Zero - Notice the red pad on the carpet is getting redder now - no more brown cast to it. biggrin.gif PS side is beautiful marlboro red.

half the credit? Dude, do you know what that carpet has been thru? The dude i bought it from NEVER put the top up; including minor rain showers. not to mention all the sh!t he's spilled in it, and oh my good ness. That's why i said to pressure wash it and then shampoo the damn thing. Fcuk cleaning that nasty carpet by hand. Why do you think i never cared if sh!t was on that carpet? Dude, I've yet to have a sinlge item on the floor sense the swap. laugh.gif

Lisa deserves ALOT for cleaning that nasty thing. I wouldn't even do it tongue.gif

the SS-III seats & black carpet really finished off the interior & made it so OEM fresh - looks so nice in person.
Lisa did such an amazing job cleaning that carpet, it looked brand new.

death your interior looks really familiar. I love it. biggrin.gif
Nice job on it - and I'm glad you stuck with the black carpet idea over the dyed carpet idea. That might've been cool, but then again it might've looked like dog vomit. Kinda risky IMO. Everything looks sweet though, you must be very happy!!!
DEATH, your interior looks pretty damn good now, but just imagine putting in something like LilJoe has for the overkill sickness. Your car already has a badass look to it outside, why not transfer that inside?
I was gonna do something over the top with the red carpet but I rolled like that for a week and it grew the wrong way on me. I dig Joe's interior but that's his thing. Trust me - it looks aggressive enough at nightime with the gauges lit biggrin.gif
Thanks again tho guys.

Wow, is that painted or leather wrapped? I think that is the only celica I've ever seen with coloured internals that actually looks good.

I think Death has in the bag. GriffGirl should about doing a calender with inteeriors for 2010. LoL. It'd be somethin totally different.

Cheers mate.
ALL those panels are painted.
I did everything myself (except recovering the seats).
It took, what felt like, an eternity to do - masking up, prepping, painting (several coats), etc.
Well worth it in the end and I was very pleased with the results.
I used the Foliatec line of products.

That's a really good idea to do a calendar featuring interiors! Maybe next year we can do it where it features exteriors but there's an inset (a little square in the corner or at the bottom of the month-grid page) that shows the interior of the car. Only challenge with this is interiors are kind of hard to photograph nicely... well that and people will have to actually clean out their cars! There's only so much photoshop can do! laugh.gif

x2 - it was hell trying to get that pic and no matter what they always look lighter than they really are - it's dark as midnight inside that car now.

I had suggested the inset thing earlier in the Calendar thing this year [With a really bad example] - what would be better I think would be to have on either side of the month a small pic that the owner of the car could use to highlight two specific areas of the car that they are proud of.
I'll make an example in a few. BRB

That's good quality paint, used some of the brake caliper paint & it's held up for several years now on our AW11.

Good job painting all the pieces, looks very professional.
It's a little too much red for me personally, but I can certainly respect all the work you put into it.

That inset thing @ the beginning or end of the month is exactly what I was thinking. Even just as a way to highlight a certain feature of the car is a great idea - that way if someone has an excellent exterior but a crappy interior, the inset can just be a featured accent of the exterior, engine bay, whatever.

Hmm........

So what is the secret? Is it that the paint is eggshell rather than gloss? Or is it the colour you chose? Or is it the photography?

That's a good idea for the calendar. But it's not even hard to clean the interior, mine's always clean as hell. But it's nothing special though.

Thanks Darth.
I did this back in 2003.
It was my first attmept at customising an interior.

I do know what you mean about a lot of red.
I don't have the car anymore but have a red GT4 and have just started a new interior project on this.
I wont be going with so much red this time - more red accents.

>So what is the secret? Is it that the paint is eggshell rather than gloss? Or is it the colour you chose? Or is it the photography?

No secret really.
The colour is more of a gloss in reality so I think that the eggshell effect is partly down to the panels themselves and the photography.
I basically went out and bought the Foliatec undercoat/primer and Foliatec Red (there is 2 red colour types but I cant honestly remember which one I got).
The Foliatec undercoat is a base layer/sealant - 3/4 coats.
Then the Foliatec Red about 5/6 coats.
It took an eternity because after each coat I wanted it to dry properly before putting another coat on.
Also this made sure that it was evenly spread/finish.
The biggest difficulty I came across was masking the panels up to get a flow from front to rear.
The masking tape didn't stick/seal to the panels particularly well so ended up with overspray - a bit of white spirit sorted this out.
BA work whatever it is. Can there ever be too much red? laugh.gif J/P - I think I'll stick with what I got but damn yours put mine to shame. biggrin.gif

Awesome - please post pics when you are done, i'd love to see it.
Do you have an ST205 or an ST185?
I have an ST185 & I just got a set of old school Recaro SR3 seats for it biggrin.gif
It's such a shame that ST205's were never imported here & they aren't legal otherwise I would own one. frown.gif
