When I am rolling in neutral up to a stop sign I have to wait till I am moving like 2 miles an hour before I can put my car into 1st gear. Is that normal for a celica trannie and clutch or is this a problem?

it was normal for me. i just used 2nd gear from stop signs

yea i got the same problem, i dont kno if it is a problem but it seems like i have to come to a complete stop to put my car into first. after my car warms up it will go in at like 10mph then i can start going again

1st gear is only to get your car moving. You shouldnt be down shifting into first, take it out of 2nd and just use your brakes to fully stop.

depends on how u drive ur car and how ur trans and clutch is i can go into 1st with out grinding at 20 mph downshifting...then agian my engine n tranny look and feel brand new..

That's normal. I'm sure toyota did that so people won't mess up the transmission.
